I have checked with my mother - she has no children (she knows of) called David, so she is not one of his relations (as a mother - I actually didn't ask if she had a brother or father called David).
Looking at this logically, I think the mother approach is the best way to get to the bottom of this. If we can ask all the mothers in the world if they have a son called David, we will be able to narrow the number we are looking at massively. From there it is a case of going back to all of them and asking for a distinguishing feature about their David - a tattoo or maybe a missing limb. We are bound to get a match eventually.

I know my parents had a son called David. I'll go back through the family tree via various internet sites and church record books from villages in Dorset with amusing names and see what I can find out. Will report back in a few days

However I feel there has been some mistake. Kim interviewed this gentleman who has been driving a cab in London and he or his parents hail from Barbados.
Given that he had the surname Ifill I was instantly struck with the whimsical notion that he might have some family connection to our goal scoring striker of a similar name.

I've done my research, right back to the church records in Piddletown, Dorest and can't find any trace of David Ifill in my family. Further investigation shows that the David that was is the offpsring of my parents, emigrated from the south of England a few years back to New Zealand. Rumour has it,
he likes both football and beer so I might bump into him at some point.
