Hang on KH mate.

I thought I was the luckiest man.

Well, you could argue that FM's post has given the Darwinian theory of Natural Selection a massive boost.

My kids both big phoenix fans and one is a regular on this forum so I'd better be careful what else I say.

I know, I know, its serious!

Oh dear. I think Frankie has been in London too long. He's slowly morphing into Alf Garnett.

All I can really contribute to this is that I would literally give my life for my kids.  I would do absolutely anything to keep them safe.  And I've never ever felt that about anyone before - oddly, not even my wife (she can look after herself though).

Maybe that's not a very good guage because I'm sure there are people who would give their life for their partner, spouse, parents, mates etc ... but I've only ever felt it for my kids.

They drive me bonkers sometimes too, but if I was offered the chance to turn back time and not have them, I wouldn't ever do that.

I love being a Dad.  But I know it's not for everyone.

to be fair, I have kind of hijacked this thread into an argument between me and those people who have kids, about why the suck/rock (delete as applicable).

Moving on to the "would you" part of the question, I would be interested in hearing from some of the younger members who don't have kids.  And Feverish.

Do you think you will want kids?  Why?

Also people like James Dean, whose every plan to attend football in the next 4 years is being hamstrung by Mrs Dean's comments of "but you won't be able to go to that in 2 years as we will have little Fernando or Kylie by then..."

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Mini Hatterette is as passionate about the Nix as I am (well, almost) & the time we spend together at the Nix, just improves the bond we have (even when she's calling the GCU players "bloody t**sers").  Kiwi Hatter2010-08-14 00:15:41

and I am sure you are very proud of that.

The situation I was talking about is someone taking a month off to go to a different country to watch football, while the missus stays home and looks after an under 2 year old.  Not usually possible (except for Marius).

Not a personal slur- just my opinion.

Better than anyone else? That is a very arrogant thing to say.

Some people say that having kids is a good thing because it makes you less selfish.
Sounds like it may only mean you think of your family; it doesn't make you think of anyone else.

Not at all arrogant. The context in which I was writing was that it is physically impossible for anyone other than Mrs Hatter & myself to have created our beautiful daughters, so it is a statement of fact that the two kids that I love & cherish more than anything in this world could only have been concieved by us. Being able to create my kids the way they are, there is no-one better.
I certainly dont claim to be the best person in the world, but when it comes to my kids I am the best dad they've got. (I've even got a home made "Best Dad in the world" medal from my 8 year old, so it must be true)

OK, that's cool; I didn't understand your context earlier.

I'm still not convinced that looking after badly behaved squabbling juveniles is a more fun night than a Four Kings bender - though a night out with the Wharfies lads is quite similar.

How do you think the staff at the four kings feel about looking after you then?
