Sam Raimi back directing horror films, He directed the Spiderman films and the classic Evil Dead series, (also the underrated Crimewave).
Its basically a reworking of the Evil Dead plot. It is great fun if like me your are sick to death of these po-faced horror films you get these days. Films that sees the heroine moving into a house/finding a bit of jewelry that unleashes some tormented spirit of some murdered, women/child that the heroine finally puts to rest. That or the hollywood knock offs of great Japense Horror films like The Grudge.
Drag Me to Hell has some great visual gags as you would expect from Raimi with his influences such as the Tom and Jerry/Warner Bros cartoons and the 3 Stooges. Some classic gross out gags as well.
OK it's not "Gandhi" or "Schindler's list", rather it's a great homage to the 80's horror films that you and your mates used to go and see.
I almost missed this, it's currently on at Reading so check it out.

A potentially good horror (or possibly comedy/horror like Shaun of the Dead) that's coming out is Dead Snow. It's about Nazi zombies. Sounds phenomenally amazing.

You can't lose with Nazi Zombies, tbh. I'm hooked!

I didn't think it was scary, which, when you think about it, is kind of the point of horror movies.
Maybe I'm jaded, maybe I'm a fuddy duddy, I don't know.

What about such classics as
The Toxic Avenger
Repo Man
The Brother from another Planet
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Not all horror movies but interesting to say the least.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Saw it last night. Man that old lady was creepy!!! Good had mostly unknown actors. Lots of gross bits.
Thanks LG for the movie recommendations, I need to make a list of films I must see! One of the best horror films I've seen is Cabinfever.

eerr they are mostly B grade movies but have become "Cult Classics". I found "The Brother from Another Planet" funny as the lead actor doesn't say one word throughout the whole film, everyone else has his conversation for him. Repo Man is a pretty good movie with a twist at the end.
There can only be three decent horrors - The Omen, The Exorcist and John Carpenter's Vampires (For some quality James Woods humour)
Ooopps I forgot Poltergeist wasn't bad for a family horror!

Family Guy has some good James Woods humour as well.
I loved the Saw movies (although strictly speaking they aren't horrors). And I'd recommend Pan's Labyrinth. It's a war/fantasy film but it's brilliantly done.

Wolfcreek scared the S**t out of me!!! I like horrors, but I DO NOT like torture

Drag Me To Hell relied too much on "jump out and go boo!" horror, which got a bit tired imo. I prefer horror movies to create a sense of dread.
Rosemary's Baby, for example.

The remake of The Hills Have Eyes was great I thought, and unexpectedly so.
The sequel was pretty rubbish though.
