So it didn't market itself very well by implying it was a mans channel, however ignoring that I'm quite happy to see some of the things it is going to have.

  • NBA
  • AFL Aussie Rules Football (Live and Highlights)
  • NFL American Football (Live and Highlights)
  • Wimbledon Tennis Championships (Live)
  • Bundesliga (One game live per week and Highlights)
  • WRC Highlights
  • Omnisports News
  • 2018 Commonwealth Games (Exclusive NZ Coverage live)
  • EPL Football (Live and Highlights till the end of the 2015/16 season)

Stoked for NBA, NFL and EPL.

I don't know what an Omnisports is but it sounds scary so not going to google it.

More free to air sports, stoked.

Neither but its nice having the option for those that want it.

Now we just need some more demographic channels so we can have even more free to air content.

Potential home of the nix I guess, although wherever the nix play you want it to be both on sky and FTA which only the big 6 channels are.

Edit, should have looked it up - it will be on sky as well as freeview.

Maybe it is now, it used to be that some channels were free view only like TVNZ 6 and 7

Oh snap I didn't realise that.

I guess I kind if assumed if it's FTA then any providers could point to it.

The more you know.

I looked at the sky tv guide and it looks like the bulk of freeview is on there - TVNZ6 and 7 were shut down a couple of years ago as they didn't get many viewers, I guess they learnt their lesson and chucked it on sky - which I think is something like a third of all households so it makes sense.

TVNZ 7 was shut down because the government stopped paying for it as TVNZ insist that despite being owned by the government they aren't actually a public broadcaster! But anyway it looks as if Duke has basically picked up where Sonnet Sports left off and as its backed by TVNZ it will survive.

I see it s meant to be a designated "Man's" channel. SO they should have the wrestling on there too?

Fro what I understand they are also trying to get some Action type shows as well.

I get what they are saying about targetting at Men, it is that the channel has a definite different target audience to any of the other FTA channels, The evenings on TV1, 2 & 3 are clearly targetted at women as they are more likely to watch the types of shows those channels watch. Maybe they could've said it differently as going for a different audience, but the problem is that Men are more likely to be the ones who enjoy action & sports, it's just a fact not sexist.

It has just taken over the pop-up channel, which wasn't on Sky for a long time either.

it helps advertisers target an audience more specifically too.
