No.

"Not Achieved". And I think if you don't write anything on the paper you get some other grade that doesn't even equate to a fail.

Yes.

If you get more than 50/80+ merit credits you get merit

If you get more than 50/80+ Excellence credits you get excellence

Wither LVL 1 or LVL 2. Cause Level 2 credits can be used for Level 1.

We have no failiures anymore. It might bruise their self confidence/esteme. So it's just "Not Achieved".

What the NCEA don't realise is that by removing the pass/fail system you also remove competitiveness, the desire to be the best, the desire to be a winner. Which still exists in the rest of the real world.

NZ used to be known world wide for high academic acheviement and our top scolars were sought aft by major companies, especially in the USA.

i think a lot of universities out of New Zealand don't look at Ncea as being a recognize exam system.

They do if you want to get into the top halls. They look at your schools rep too.

im going to be sweet for overseas cause my school has a good rep.

It's the Unis out of New Zealand that don't accept it. The ones in NZ have to. However, the ones I know of that didn't like it were Harvard and MIT...

But fails haven't been taken out of the university system (just yet). So NCEA really screws you over for Uni. I know, I experienced it.

Scots College has quite a good rep, I would say. It's the big American and British unis that don't really care. Undergrad over there is not to be advised (for various reasons). Australia is generally fine with most NZers.

Yes NCEA is so stupid. My Level 3 marks absolutely sucked, mainly cause I couldn't care less about them, then when I went to uni last year, straight A's.
