Fee for non-locals 'silly idea'
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's living in Agadez, Niger.  Spending more time in town, Agadez, as bad people in the desert are spoiling the good life.

A plan by cash-strapped Wellington City Council to charge out-of-towners a fee to get into attractions has concerned some tourist operators and prompted regional mayors to call it "discriminatory".

Here we go again, an accommodation tax will be next, then a regional sales tax on petrol or flights.
In some European countries museums charge until an hour to go, so at least the school kids and pensions get a quick look before it closes.

In Rotorua they have a "discount" for locals, upon presentation of a rates bill or similar evidence. Otherwise attractions are just too bloody dear for the common folk.
