They had to really. But good call to take it to the outside, you don't see that very often.

Very happy for Kurt Warner getting to another Superbowl, he deserves it.

Who is everyone backing down in Tampa then?

Would love to see the Cards end up going all the way!

Anyone know if the Backbencher will be showing the Superbowl on the big screen (with the sound on of course)?

It was the end that seemed to be the best part (other than the 100yd rushed TD). I popped down to Arizona for the last 7 mins of play  - saw the Cardinals get the safety, score a TD to take the lead with just over a minute to play - then Steelers pull it back again with 35secs on the clock - amazing stuff)

Thought the booth should have reviewd Warner's last fumble. It was a incomplete pass IMO, but even if it wasn't over turned it still should've been revuewed. Then could've had one last hail mary for the win.

Santonio Holmes' catch for the win was pretty ridiculous and he was making some really good catches during the game.

Side note: Who is the commenator (on ESPN) who speaks in flow's as if he is rapping? he is quite annoying.

Agree on the last Cardinals play, we all thought it was an incomplete pass and that it should have been reviewed.

Turned out a pretty good game, even if the Cards didn't seem to have turned up for the first quarter. I couldn't believe the number of penalties conceded in the game, some really dumb, but guess that's the pressure of a big game.

The ESPN commentator you mention in Stirling Sharpe, former Packers WR.

Missed most of it due to work, but caught the last five minutes (fifteen minutes in real time).

Gutted for the Cardinals. But mostly because I hate Pittsburgh.

Great game that, seen Holmes TD countless amounts of times, ESPN have showed so many replay and interviews with him..

Fitz was unlucky not to catch Harrison for the 100 yard TD, who else saw him run into someone on the sideline when he was chasing?

Time to dig out this thread with the draft on now?

Stafford off to Detroit, Not a surprise really but riduclous how he gets 41.3 million guaranteed over six-year!

Nice touch to hear all the cheers for OT Michael Oher. Father murdered when he was young, Mother was a crack addicted and kept moving around foster homes growing up. Hard work and in the end he got to the NFL, Drafted 23rd today by the Ravens

Agree that the money the top picks get is ridiculous, especially considering that the it's essentially a blind investment - you have no idea whether those guys can make the step up and dominate in the NFL the way they did in college. Think thi is especially true for QBs, think the success rate in picking a QB in the first round who goes on to play well is only about 50/50.

Was reading an interview with the Saints GM earlier today, and he said that having the top pick in the draft is basically becoming an albatross around the neck of the organisation that has it, because of the size of the contracts these days.

No comments on the Cutler trade? He has played pretty good in Denver (but not even as well as Plummer) but since he has been rumoured to be traded he has been hailed as one of the great QB's in the league.

But Chicago don't have many play-making receivers, although they drafted 3 the last couple of days. On wideouts there was much said about Darrius Heyward-Bey, being drafted 7, with Maclin and Crabtree on the board still. Raiders like speed and Heyward-Bey has supposedly huge upside (not as much as Crabtree and no where near as polished), want to see how that pick pans out in a few years.

Also on WR, heard Larry Fitzgerald talk on 'the Dan Patrick Show' seemed like a real class act.

Eh, will fill up league, I will publish the league on friday and will fill with whoever wants to, probably some Americans. Draft is at 1:30pm on Sunday so... 7:30pm EST on Saturday in US, I've run two leagues and one 8 randoms joined and another 2 randoms joined so it's ok.

Also just a few notes, I count receptions in my league (one point per completed reception for recievers, RB's not QB's), so people like Wes Welker are a little more valuable. Also, passing touchdowns are worth the same as other offensive touchdowns, but INT cost you -2. And I also reward kick returners with 1 point per 10yards. Everything else is standard. Anyway just look at scoring and settings.

Find it funny how someone got Vick on there Eagles dog shirt, It had to happen!

Madden 10 is a big improvement on 09 i reckon, Skipping through those halftime shows gets a bit annoying though. Also a bit tough with the Buccs and there QB situation

Week 1 underway, Saints crush the Lions 45-27 today. Brees with 6 TD passes, I absolutely love that man.

Have the Eagles next up, they had a good win today as well, but McNabb borked and Vick still ineligible, should be a good time to play them.

New Rookie Head Coach, New Offensive Coordinator, New Starting QB and a Tough Schedule (Playing only 3 teams with a 2008 losing record!)

All signs this season might not be too impressive for the Buccaneers.

El Grapadura, Impressive from Brees, Should be a playoff run this season?

I hope so. But NFC South has a pretty tough schedule this season (NFC and AFC East), so won't be easy. The offense can put a truckload of points on anyone, the question is if our D had improved enough this season to take us to the playoffs and even further. Initial signs on the D good (despite the 27 points conceded, the D forced turnovers and allowed 230-odd offensive yards, not too shabby). But will face sterner tests.

We shall see, but I'm feeling positive (as I always do at the start of the season).
