Fever NHL / Ice Hockey Thread, eh!

NHL starts tomorrow! Anyone else here into ice hockey? I've been a fan of hockey much longer than any other sport, being a dedicated fan of the Ottawa Senators fan for as long as I can remember. 2007 was the best year of my life - Sens reach the Cup Finals and the Phoenix were born.

Figured I'd start this thread to talk about the NHL, the Winter Olympics (go Canada), and the NZIHL... even though it gives Gangsta! a chance to gloat about his Canterbury Red Devils beating my Southern Stampede...

Partial to the Flames, having loved my short time in Calgary, and there being no Seattle or Utah teams in the NHL.

yeah who should I support? I want a team that's the equivalent of Man City - people love to hate, but not as much as Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal, yet they're still good.

Haha nah, as I said to Clarke on Facebook, I don't get pissed off at people supporting rival teams, so long as it's genuine. Besides, I'm just glad to have people to talk hockey with. Also I'm glad that Toronto lost yesterday, BWAHAHAHA. After all, my girlfriend supports the Sabres (a division rival!), and I seem to tolerate her enough that we now live together

Cosimo - Pittsburgh might be your team. There's no real top four because of the salary cap and all, but they've recently become a power after spending most of the earlier part of this decade tanking their seasons in order to get high draft picks, causing them to end up with strong youth players like Marc-Andre Fleury, Jordan Staal, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby. They won the cup last year and lately have become a team everyone hates, but a certainly no Man U (that'd probably be Detroit).

And yes, I do hate them myself, but I hate all Pittsburgh teams

Cam-BWFC - Washington is a decent team, Ovechkin is possibly the best player in the league, Varlamov looks to be an excellent prospect between the pipes, and they have great rivalries to follow. Not a bad team to cheer for.

Yeah I heard about that during the Sens game. We lost 2-5 to the Rangers, but I can take some solace in that Toronto lost too  Looking forward to the next matchup in the Battle of Ontario on Wednesday

Bandwagon jumper I'd suggest watching matches involving Detroit, Vancouver, Washington, Boston, Chicago and San Jose. Then see which one appeals. Bug me on Facebook and I can prescribe some matches for ya if you want

Ha thats the attitude, Currently the 4 sides i back over 3 sports all have worse than .500 winning record (Nix & Bolton bottom half, Buccs currently 0-4 in NFL and Wizards last season were 19�63 in NBA)

I'm a Red Wings fan have been for a while, I can't say why i started liking them as i'd never really gotten into watching  NHL  other than if it was the only sport on telly until this years Stanley Cup play off and Final they were awesome games to watch so i've really gotten the bug now

Not a fan of the Coyotes at all, one of the less classy teams in the league. Possibly moving in the near future - wouldn't surprise me to see them in Las Vegas, though there are movements to get teams back in Quebec City and Winnipeg. Would be ironic if they ended up in Quebec - both of those cities lost their original teams to the US around the same time, with the Winnipeg Jets moving to Phoenix to become the Coyotes.

Sens lost 1-4 to the Penguins today, urgh. Will have to console myself with a 2-7 Leafs loss to NYR, bwahahaha
