hey team, just wondering is there any public fields in walking distance (30min walk) of central wellington with rugby posts or soccer goals still up?

I was thinking wellington college but they mat have taken their rugby posts down by now.

Any suggestions?

Wellington College is hardly a public field is it now?

Best bet probably Newtown 2.  Kaiwharawhara has goals all year round but is a bit of a hike on foot (and a bit of a paddock under foot for that matter).

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Newtown 2 is owned by the Wellington ratepayers and is unfenced.  I'd see no reason I couldn't have a kick around on it.

Boyd Wilson still had posts up last week I think.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Also, if you wanna practice your shooting/goal kicking, you'd better have a plentiful supply of balls there...

Some of the parks don't even have cricket on them and they still take them down. Soooo stupid!

no posts on boyd wilson either, not many places you'd have any luck at this time. bottom of botanics, thorndon side (is that anderson?) might be a goer, they often left them up

Anderson normally has a cricket pitch during summer, unless Collegians have moved? Huddlestone2008-09-28 15:30:59

pretty average option to practice rugby goalkicking. soccer goal is ok cause you have a crossbar at least.

for the record boyd wilson has one set of posts.

Didn't Mehrtens practise in a field, kicking over telephone poles or something?

Shame you cant use a hockey field for your games, permanent goals that are always a good size for 5-a-sides.
