Does anyone know how many of the Fijian Seven's Team have family in the Military?

We should get Freed Woodcock to do a FoI request with DoL or Immigratioon to find out if any 'ministerial discretion' was used in the issuing of visasa to the Fijian players.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Just email the appropriate Minister and ask your question. They have to answer you as much as they have to answer Fred.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Every Fijian has a relation with some connection, don't they!

The Fijian sevens team get some sort of dispensation to play in Wellington. There are almost certainly players with military connections.

Not sure what the logic is but one thing is certain, the govt would't dare interupt the sevens for fear of a rugby fan backlash! As we all know rugby is a sacred cow in NZ

It is easier to be principaled when it comes to football. Easy to ban the Fijian football team because they know that football is a soft target. One thing for sure if the Govt through SPARC don't compensate NZF for the loss of the Fiji game then Winston and Labour have lost my vote!!

Frankly speaking, i don't think any of them should be allowed in. that would deliver a bigger political message than banning a couple of boy scouts. Fijians love their rugby as much as Kiwis. bet peters nor Clarke have the balls to stop them coming. Chicken sh*ts both of them. Pick on the scouts, pick on the netballer, pick on the footballer but we couldn't have a go at a 7's player, oh no!

Thank you but as you can see, all i want is consistencey and yes, banning fijian rugby players whether they be 7's or 15's players would have a greater impact.

Keep on topic, keep bashing our excuse for a government.

We need Woody to do a write up. Can't just let the Sevens go by without a big deal being made.

Let's see how long it will take for the government to shut us down or demand we register as a political entity.

Don't vote for Labour! Their many many doubles standards are everywhere, not just in this issue. Vote for a small party!

Reminds me of a simspons episode. "I'm going to vote for a third party!" "What, and waste your vote?"
Good thing in NZ is, if smaller parties start to get votes National and Labour won't have as much power. Bad thing, the crazy ideas some parties have start to get pushed through as part of deals.

Just to keep you in the loop.  I asked some questions about the visa situation and NZFootball getting some cash back.... way way back. My questions were not fuilly answered and I repeated them. As of the beginning of January they are"still wth the Minister".  My last approach to the Minister's office was last week. No reply again/yet.
Am going to have to ask again (note will probably go tonight) but this time under the Official Information Act.

If you did that, your efforts would be greatly appreciated. I'm sick of waiting for a proper explanation. I hope Labour burns in hell.

Someone said on here that serevi was in the Fijian military. According to Peters and Clarke anyone involved would not be allowed in - fijian goalkeeper, boy scouts and netballer were stopped from receiving Visas in.

Fijian rugby players aren't banned because the sevens is an international tournament.

The World Cup, of course, is not.

Some how I still feel football was shafted although I still think Peters and Clarke are balless. Will we ever get decent, honest and respected politicians??

Serevi has a wife, Karalaini, whom he married in 1993.  They have three children: two daughters, Una and Asinate, and a son they have named Waisale Serevi Junior.[10][102] His wife works for the Fijian Defence Force

This NZ government are full of double standards. But then the next political group is going to end up the same.

I thought that Josateki Savou is taking them for this tournament. Waisale Serevi announced his resignation as coach of the national sevens team on 6th July 2007.

A recent poll indicates that 99% of NZers believe that Helen clark in fact does have balls. 8% even claimed to have seen them.

Allegedly

I can see the irony in this. A Samoan scores the winning try against Samoa in the final! Who said the NZ selectors didn't poach players from other countries. And Vito wasn't the only pacific islander fronting for the NZ 7's team.
