Unless you like reading, don't watch it.

Really sub-titles are a stumbling block?

Can't really comment too much haven't seen it, but it's so good it is being remade with David Fincher as director.

I never get why people are so opposed to sub-titles, they're not difficult.  Nearly makes you weep the number of people who come into work trying to get another movie for free because the movie they had was actually a foreign language one.

I also hate how quickly English copies of foreign movies are made.  I assume this David Fincher one mentioned above is one.  Also Rec was another quality movie screwed over.

Sometimes I can't be bothered with subtitled films, but I have no issue watching them if I am in the mood. The first time I watched one it surprised me just how little difference it made...turns out I can read much quicker than I imagined!

I also just watched Hot Tub Time Machine...funny!

Saw The Two Escobars on sunday, loved it. Didn't know a hell of a lot about Andres or Pablo Escobar before. Can't beat a doco about football and drugs.
Missed the screenings of a few films I really wanted to see [namely Enter Through The Gift Shop - anyone see it?] because I was in Auckland for a week, gutted.

Speaking of remaking movies, what's the deal with Yanks taking other countries tv shows, and remaking them to be more palatable to American audiences? Is it really asking a lot that they actually learn about other cultures ffs? The remake of Outrageous Fortune is, by all accounts, horrible, and I hear they're doing a re-make of Shameless. Doesn't even bear thinking about.

I for one am getting so sick and tired of America's representation of Britain as being populated by cockneys in cloth caps drinking guiness.

Rant over.

fixed

On one hand, was hilarious and a nice look at a few very famous 'street artists'
On the other, plenty of potential to be a hoax too.

But definitely check it out.

Yeah I can see what you mean about the hoax thing from the trailer. I was told it takes the piss out of the art industry somewhat, which interested me.

Agree, Inception is brilliant

Can recommend seeing (if they come back) from the festival - The Double Hour (Italian film) and Turtle: The incredible Journey. Wonderful doco, the underwater photography is awesome. Makes me love turtles even more. Good film for kids to see as well as adults.

I just watched "The Big Blue" aka "Le Grand Bleu" directors cut on Bluray and it was good. I saw it years ago in the cinema. This cut has a lot of extra footage and give a more complete story and is based on true persons, although in real life the "hero" actually comitted suicide aged 74 and didn't drown (?) as in the movie.

saw Inception yesterday, and although I thought I would hate it (I was hungover, plus I didn't really like Shutter Island) I really enjoyed it.  Still don't really know what the fcuk was going on (I came out of the cinema thinking that the whole thing was a giant warning about eating cheese before going to bed, but I may have been wrong).

I also watched Boy last night - what a load of sh*t.  Aside from a couple of laughs at the beginning, it is not funny, dramatic or interesting in any way, shape or form.    If I had the choice of having to either watch that again or lose my swingers, I would be reaching for the gardening shears.

The Girl with the Dragon tattoo was intense, seemed quite predictable but a good thriller. They speak relatively fast though, so maybe that's what HS is on about.

FILM FESTIVAL:
I saw 'Animal Kingdom' (Melbourne Crime Family Drama) was great.
Saw 'Cell 211' (A prison riot thriller, Spanish) was my pick of the bunch.
Also saw 'The Killer Inside Me' which was cool, Jessica Alba, Casey Affleck.
'Purple Balloon and other stories' documentary on Sam Hunt, was really good.

Not at the film festival:
Inception, was pretty awesome.
Cemetery Junction, short and sweet.
Also just saw 'Bronson' on DVD which is about Charles Bronson/Michael Peterson, England's equivalent to Chopper Read but was nothing on the movie 'Chopper' that's for sure.

I'm hearing ya Frankie Mac. Ironically I kept falling asleep at the start of the movie so probably missed the whole concept of the story. Then while watching, was weird thinking its all just a dream

That last sentence is pretty radical Frankie. Not the sort of endorsement a film maker would want to read!

Anyway, you mean getting your leg over 100 times (or is that 50 times)?
