Not a fan personally- consider it a huge waste of money and resource, not to mention the stress on animals

'oh god won't somebody please think of the animals'

I was in Shanghai in 1993 for the Lunar New Year.  At midnight the whole city erupted in multiple explosions and skyrockets from everywhere.

Probably as close to a war zone as I'll ever get! Blimmin amazing - the air was thick with cordite and smoke with flashes apearing through the haze.

Went on for hours and hours and in the morning there were huge piles of red paper all over the streets.

Sadly the municipal authorities sensibly banned fireworks in urban centres the next year, but it still happens sporadically even in Beijing where they take the ban very seriously.

Take your point about the animals Salmon07.  too much stress would ruin the flavour for dog!

Double happy and a row of Tom thumbs.
Magic!

Double happys and tom thumbs were the most versatile of fireworks.

Many of my arifix models had authentic battle scarring because of them.

The little skyrockets which looked like oversize DHs were good too.

However the stuff we got here was/is so lame in comparison with the real McCoy over in China (first experienced up close and scared sh!tless in 1985).

Every now and then you'd hear reports of firework factories blowing up there - they were real weapons of mass destruction.

Let me guess, you've been to that place in Cambodia where they let you loose with an AK-47, grenade launcher etc.
Always thought the pigs that you shoot, end up on your plate later that day!!!

I have never been to Cambodia.

But I have had ample opportunity to both see and hear 155mm howitzers in action.
