Firm sentencing?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Hardline Islamists in Somalia have carried out double amputations on four men for stealing phones and guns.

They have each had a hand and foot cut off after being convicted by a Sharia court in the capital earlier this week.

Yikes...

Sharia law is scary.  And don't Britian now have it as a legitimate court under which family disputes involving Islamic families can be tried?

Here, they would have each received 100 hours community service.

No, they don't. It's something of an urban myth that's been around for a while.

Just don't steal  It'll be interesting to wait and see if anything like this comes to fruition in New Zealand, however I don't think our Islamic population is large enough yet.

But there are areas in many european cities that police wont enter because the local muslim population are extremely hostile and preffer to deal with crime themselves under Sharia law.

Brussles, Malmo, and take your pick of most major French cities.

I know that there are claims in France, particularly in the Paris "banlieue",  of sharia but its something of an exaggeration. Whilst a local community may take action against say. boys stealing cigarettes, they couldn't "try" somone who robbed the local bottle store. The state simply wouldn't let its role be diminished that way.
