You really cannot compare.

By your logic the AWs wouldnt have to win just 1 game at the world cup, theyd have to win the entire tournament before they win the damn award

Thats not my logic or my point at all, but take it however you like.

I agree, rowing is wank... but thats not my point. Our psyche is already too soft.

I took it as "they won something" and we didnt,so they deserve it. Not sure how else to take "they won something"?

My girlfriend walked into the room just as they were announcing the team award and said "who are they?" - EXACTLY!!

The Halbergs would rather give an award to the tiddlywinks team - if they were world champions - than reward any kind of achievement in a sport that actually matters.

So i guess next up is Pair of the year? Does that go to Paston and Fallon for the save and the goal?

Let me get this right ,you can play in the worlds greatest sporting event and then a few years later you coach a team into qualifying for the biggest sporting event in the world.
You have limited resources in a country where your sport is seriously under valued by the mainstream media.
Your achievements are driven by passion and commitment.
This year you give the whole country a huge lift in a winter of bleak recession.
Do you get recognised for this at the country's most prestigious sports awards ?do you f**k !!

Rowing
yeah right!!

Yeah, good point - two people isn't a team.

I hope the All Whites take those rowers outside and give them a kicking.

I have a feeling the Helberg Trust knew the All Whites would have a stunning 2010 so they held off on the award maybe we will make the semi's of the world cup like the 2002 Tall Blacks

That's a pretty average decision.
Halberg's always steer clear of anything remotely controversial (giving to AW's might upset some rugby punters) and give it to something boring (i.e. rowing).

Halberg awards are a crock of sh*t. NZ's most prestigious sports awards? f**k off. Maybe they are NZ's "time to recognise the smaller [less prestigious] sports" sports awards.

Fuck this stupid game
