When I first got my iPod I used the head phones that came with it for the "look". But when they stuffed out I spent $30 on som Panasonic wrap arounds, and marvelled at the increase in quality.
This year they died and I got into some in ear skull candy's. Cheap, but did the job! However before I went to South Africa I went and got a pair of these:

These have to be the best i've enjoyed so far! During the trip I used them every day, whether it was ignoring my travelling companions while spending 10 hours in a small car in Krueger, or switching off at the end of the day before I crashed, or spending too long in a long haul seat, they dominated.
Since i've come back i'm wearing them at work and listening to various videos & music and they're still great. Good excuse to ignore the boss.
Long story short anyone else using "non-standard" headphones? I know there is better out there but I don't know if I can justify the price tags!!!

Wireless is great for a desktop, can even listen to sounds from my desktop while I go to the toilet or make a coffee. They are pretty comfy and perform pretty well. I also use some dsp software for my media players which makes the mp3's sound a lot better.
Personally I use sennheiser ear canal headphones, something like this:

Cuts outside noise down a lot and great deep sound.

You can use something like this:

I haven't tried it, but i have used other dsp software of theirs and it works pretty well.
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
Got sum Senn in ear things when I got my new Nano a few mths ago thinking they'd be miles better than the standard white gayness.
They weren't.

So basically at gigs - Don't stick your head in speaker stacks. If your ears start to feel uncomfortable then you are giving them too much hassle. f**king leave go buy a beer, go outside, if the ears are still ringing then leave.
Ears are the gayest organ in the body and are weak -remember that.
It's ok to wear headphones as long as it is not too loud, the brain is ok with listening to stuff. But don't take the piss.
Do nOT DAMAGE YOUR EARS IT'S SH*T-HONEST IT'S FRIGGIN RUBBISH BUT I COULD'NT BE TOLD WHEN I WAS A YOUNG - no I knew it all.

The best I came across were Bose earphones. $170, comfortable and exceptional quality. cancels out 90% of noise which is great for non noise canceling earphones. great bass too.
Blackbox earphones are really only good if you are traveling.
I had the C14 ones and found them klunky and really uncomfortable. The rubber ear cup things were quite thin and slipped backwards revealing the pointy earphone part which bloody hurt when you accidentally knocked them.
I used them on an airplane though and they were great. Bass is limited though. not enough for my liking. Plus other people could hear what you were listening to because sound escaped out the back of it.
I bought some Nixon ones the other week for like $70 though. looked cool and did a great job.
But broke them the other day when the cord got caught on a display at a store and ripped out the cord from my iPod.
HEADPHONES.
I prefer earphones over headphones anyway.

Skullcandy Hesh

The earphones I've got are
Skullcandy - Full Metal Jacket

The Hesh have a great sound, but I can only wear them for about an hour or so, I think my head is too big for them, so they really squeeze on my ears.
I use the foam buds with the FMJ, which gives great noise isolation, and there is a remarkable bass with them. Use the FMJs most of the time.

I used to have problems with the cords tangling, but now I have a SONY pair which have a slideable catch which you move to the top when not listening; stops them tangling.
Sound quality could be better though maybe that's just cos these don't seem to fit my ears properly and fall out slightly.
