Holidays - where are you going?

Couldn't see another recent thread for this so may aswell start one.

Have booked flights for a couple of weeks in the US in August. Going to spend much of the first week in LA then divide the second between Las Vegas and Anaheim. May try and fit in a couple of days in San Diego for Seaworld and the Zoo too. Have been before (although San Diego when I was about 5 so can't really remember it - the others more recently) but my partner has never been further than Australia so a chance for her to experience some childhood dreams (Disneyland etc). 

Stayed with my Aunt in LA before but sadly she's no longer with us and my cousins who are still there live in shoebox apartments so couldn't accommodate 2 guests. So anyone have any tips for somewhere reasonable and not too expensive to stay in LA? Probably looking at about 3 star equivalent. Any tips for San Diego would be appreciated too.

Got time to make a trip to the Grand Canyon from Vegas?From memory the north rim is about a 5 hour drive.Bryce Canyon is also quite good and Zion national park is supposed to be good as well.Missed that due to an earthquake.

Definitely Grand Canyon, main purpose for going to Vegas really. I've been before (2009) but always promised to take the other half there so making good on that this year! Not planning on driving. I went on a day tour from Vegas so will probably just to do the same. Perhaps pick a slightly different one so I go to some different points.Planning on probably 3 days in Vegas - 2 to explore the Strip and probably the middle day for Grand Canyon.

Off to Bali in for two weeks in  May. First time since 1973 that I will not watch a live FA Cup final as we will  be in the air.

Just as well Utd  won't be there.

Midway museum in San Diego I thoroughly enjoyed a few years back. Aircraft carrier with US Naval air history.

We trained Anaheim -> Santa Barbara and back and also Anaheim -> San Diego. Not expensive and a cool way to see scenery.

Im having a night in Taupo at Easter.
