A more important question is how many weeks do we have left to diet so girls can look good in a bikini and boys in a speedo while on a beach in Rio

Don't need tan

So $50 a week > $200 a month > $3600 a year x 4 = $14,400

Yeah, that should cover it.

Three for me, and two for them.

Don't need a visa as long as you're a NZ oompa loompa.

maybe they issue visa's to wonkers (& oompa loompas) who promise not to be seen in speedos in public

on the plus side Stefan - if your spray tan does go orange you can get budweiser to sponsor you

Willie Wonka strawberry and grape twister is as close as you can get to red licorice without consuming evil gelatin

$14K NZ is possibly only $8K US Buffon. What sort of tour are you envisioning? 7-8 days that might be do-able but if your planning the whole 3 week jaunt then you could be skinny maybe?

also don't watch City of God

That's just what i'm planning to save, i assume i would have other money to call upon when the time comes.

And are you sure that $14k isn't enough? Wasn't the fever tour to South Africa below $10k? Surely it won't be any more than that.

14k in normal circumstances, right now, is plenty for Brazil. But prices will inevitably be hiked up for the World Cup.

no I'm not sure that is why I asked what sort of tour you had in mind. I'd be careful also making any estimation on what is cost responsible now and what may be cool in 2014. Regardless of inflation we can expect severe price hikeage.

good on you for planning now though, a World Cup in Brazil is sort of a holy grail for a football fan I guess.

Yeah wanted to start planning now or it will never happen. Not totally sure what sort of tour i have in mind at this stage, as time develops i'll probably gain a better or clearer idea.

Cheers for the feedback lads (and lass).

I'm saving. Slowly. Will you still go if NZ don't make it? I'm not sure I would. As I am also trying to go to Euros in France 2016.

NZ have more chance of qualifying for the WC in Brazil than they do for the Euros in 2016.

No need to thank me......

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite

Depends how many games you wanna go to.  Brazil gonna be a bitch to get around because of the distance between venue.  Thus you'll probably have to fly everywhere.  Fever tour was 7000 but that only included flights and accommodation.  Add in internal travel, match tickets, food etc.  I think I spent around $12000.  For brazil I think I'll try stay on for the knockout stages so will probably budget for around 18k

Yeah, that should cover it.

Needs more work on the maths.  50 per week is only 2600 per year

Yes, but the basic equation above is correct. 50 x 4 = 200 x 12 = 3600 x 4 = 14400

Like i said that's just a base budget to work from, i will have other money to draw upon.

Favelas ain't that bad - hung out a bit in Rocinha when I was in Rio, never had any problems.

I've just looked at the venues they've decided on- Cuiaba and Manaus. Farken. They'll be a bitch to get too. Also four northern cities used, and Brasilia, they'll have to make significant upgrades on their domestic air services.

Don't know where you went to school but if you think 200 x 12 = 3600 then I'd ask for my money back!

If you start one of those serious saver accounts (the one you only deposit cash into that you get extra interest if you don't withdraw)  you'll save even more money! Talk to you bank.

At this stage I'm looking at combining the WC and Confederations Cup with my OE.  Planning on flying out to Brazil for the Confeds in June 2013, then do a working/holiday for 12 months (hopefully teach English to some rick kids) and finish with the World Cup.
