Anyone currently using one? Had one before?

Are they reliable? Thoughts?

Would love a top end Samsung or Sony Ericsson but I have a limited budget.C-Diddy2011-09-17 11:00:01

As always, your insight is appreciated!

Considering a couple of LG's at the moment.

What budget range?

I just got a LG Optimus One P500 about $400 in shops, but $280 from Parallel Imported. Pretty good, touch screen, android 2.2 (not newest 2.3). Also considered lower range HTC (Wildfire S) and Samsungs (Galaxy ACE). Look what you want and look on testfreaks, cnet, trusted for reviews.

I've got an Optimus One and 2 x Samsung Galaxy .

I prefer the Galaxys but the the Optimus is good.  The GPS and Navigation on it is much better than the Samsung.

ALthough we have digresses.  FInd a cheap Galaxy S (I SO want an S2) Coops.

Optimus One P500?

Been eyeing that one off for a while. So you'd recommend it?

(NB: Its NOT going on XT, it's for 2Degrees)

2 degrees, ew..

My P500 was great in the US.  The only reason i don't use it is because it's not as good as the Galaxy.

I have a p500, i love it. My dad bought one recently as well, the Telecom version was $270 from Noel Leeming last week, not sure if it is still that price. He has it going on 2degrees perfectly well.

I got one of these..

It cost me 250 quid at a vendor on Victoria Street in 2005.

It still runs perfectly.

It does not have Angry Birds on it.

I rate HTC. Currently I have the Desire HD but a Sensation will soon be mine.

Galaxy S2 feels very plasticy in comparison.

Funny because this comparison of both phones says the sensation is the more plastic feeling phone even though it's much heavier due to it's thick glass screen. I read somewhere else that Samsung have made limiting the weight of their phones a priority and I think some people perceive a light phone as 'plasticy'.

As far as I am aware, the only people who need more than one phone are drug dealers, pimps or serial philanderers.  Which one are you HN?

I'll take my own experience over those of a reviewer, with all due respect.

But if you rate reviewers' opinions highly, perhaps you should read this review.

Galaxy S2
"While the Galaxy S2 will certainly fit into the tightest jeans pocket, the compromise is build quality - the body just feels cheap and uninspiring.Things don't improve when you remove the wafer thin back to insert a sim - wed be seriously worried about snapping it".

HTC Sensation
"It feels incredibly well built and solid, certainly what youd expect from HTC and of a premium product. The metal is a world away from the cheap plastic back of the Samsung Galaxy S2."

Yeah fair enough. And yeah, as I said I read Samsung didn't want to build heavy, bulky phones (it was in a magazine now I think about it) so that's why it's mostly plastic, which from personal experience, has proven (so far) to be quite strong as I give mine a battering at work. Has lots of small scratches but no cracks or dents.

To be honest I went Samsung because my mate who works at Vodafone said that the best value for money phone on the market (at the time) was the S2, and that it had given customers no reason go Apple. But then again I'm just stating someone else's opinion again. I haven't had a play with the HTC's so hard to establish my own.

Both phones are considered top of the range for a reason and I think that is one thing that most reviewers seem to agree on, at least. I know I'd be happy with either.

currently using the Huwei Ideos on 2 degrees, great phone, good sound, good battery, and great price for a android capable phone. I'm going prepay and using my wireless broadband at home , and the free networks in town for most of my data, so its cheap to run as well.

Anecdotal evidence (large organisation using a lot of HTC's) says they are rubbish and steer clear.

Which model? Their top of the line phones over the past two years have been market leaders (Desire->Desire HD->Sensation).

Settled on LG Optimus One. Great phone! Love it! Except for the fact that I updated the OS from 2.2 Froyo to 2.3.3. Gingerbread and now my GPS doesn't work. Google don't seem to have released a bug fix for this yet

I haven't ugraded mine.  Reminds me I need to upgrade all three.

Playing with a Huawei U8652 running 2.3 currently.  Quite like so far although data not running yet, but like the feel and it's a better actual phone than the Samsung I think.
