The crowd seemed very spaced out (in the literal sense that is!) almost like no one wanted to sit next to anyone else,or maybe it was marketing manipulation in the way the tickets were dished out for the benefit of the telly so that it looked a bit fuller than it was !who knows ,great conspiracy theorys start here!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Considering the numbers of season ticket holders, a lot of them couldn't be arsed to show up at the first home game of the season. Not like there was a lot on in Wellington last nice. It was warm, not raining, no real excuse ecept for the rugby it'self.

Rugby was rubbish - crowd smallish - but agree with the 17,500 mentioned here
Strange how its so hard to find out crowd size for Rugby games..
Many of the regular season ticket holders who showed up week after week last year, were not there on Friday - I hear the same from other people, old hand season ticket holders not renewing
As for the entertainment - oh dear - same old same old - music at every break in play - "hurricanes hurricanes, hurricanes..chant over the speakers (no one joins in).
As for citizen cane - stunned mullets and about as passionate as a bag of Crisps

You'd think both Rugby and Cricket would give this annoyance a friggen rest. There have been so many complaints about it, yet they persist.
Strong warning to Wellington Phoenix - DO NOT INTRODUCE THIS NEXT SEASON, was bad enough at Beckham.

Exactly - let the crowd provide the entertainment.
However, I'm sure there will be some Fifa rules around music during league games.

Even when the crowd isn't singing, there's a buzz in the atmsophere that keeps your attention. Music would ruin such moments till the crowd start up again.

i know there's some that think we should be all PC and say "rugby's a good game and good on them" and even quite a few that geniunely feel that -and ok each to their own
but i think it's just great that fan numberrs for rugby appear to be dropping
if 1 in 2 of those ends up at most Phoenix games next season that's all good!

* WARNING: THE BELOW POST MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF SARCASM*
hey, steady on tigers, rugby's a good game - what's wrong with living and breathing rugby and going to the soccer every so often for a laugh? soccer shouldn't try to compete with anything, not even itself

let's kiss

have you thought about politics cosimo, i seem to recall a more critical stance from you in the past? or maybe my sacasm radar is off beam
and yeh, if they pay at the gate then yeah any human is welcome, and a fair few rugby fans are more open-minded than me which is good for the nix

90% of my posts are sarcasm. i know, it's the lowest form of wit...actually, i think making fart-noises is lower personally
i don't care for rugby at all, fo' rizzle, and wouldn't give a toss if it's popularity shrivelled up like my scrotum in the bath
