I am unemployed.

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's living in Agadez, Niger.  Spending more time in town, Agadez, as bad people in the desert are spoiling the good life.

Funny how the statement "I am unemployed" can change things. It's seems to have a negative connotation in the minds of some.

Coming back from Hong Kong I looked the arrival card's box marked occupation. As a force of habit I always put down researcher but as I am not working  (ON HOLIDAY!!) I thought I'd put down unemployed and see how that changed things.

You got it. I got sent to one side for what Customs call "secondary processing". 

Just to make certain that my "employment situation" was the reason I wrote to Customs and they confirmed that's why I got sent off to "secondary processing".
