There's a lot of intangible benefits from having a high performance industry based in NZ, there's obviously brand NZ but there's more than that. For instance, all of the sail GP boats are built in NZ, another example is that Rocketlab uses technology and knowledge developed within NZ for sailing to design it's rockets (which are the first carbon fiber composite rockets). You could say that without the Americas cup, NZ wouldn't have a space industry.
