...keep it from going off for longer i.e. delay the used by date?

Yes, but not by long. Better to freeze it and then defrost it (either via room temperature or the microwave).

Ok cheers. I bought 2 packs of bread last week and the use by date is yesterday but i have kept them refrigerated and both look ok to eat still.

I find that refrigerating new bread can delay the molding process a little especially in summer.  But freezing bread is a good idea especially if you're going to use it to toast.

Definitely with the toast option. You can go from frozen straight to delicious warm bread.

Buffy if there isn't white sh*t growing on it it'll be fine.

Cupboard - keeps its nice and soft, but goes off quickly.
Fridge - Longer keep date. But goes stale quicker.

The Dilema!

To stop your bread from going moldy & stale - eat the whole loaf in 1 go with peanut butter & strawberry jam mmmmmmmmmmmm.  But I think we've gone down this road in another thread.

So if I die, Mrs Cosimo will have the means to create little Cosimo juniors, and not have little milkman juniors. I've seen the way he looks at her.
