If I wanted to study in England and I was a New Zealander with an English grandfather am I able to as a "domestic" student (thus paying domestic fees) or would I be classed as international?

Does anyone know the law on this?

Cheers

Having a look there now. If I can't find anything (and no one knows) I'll give the British Embassy a ring on Monday.

I would. But Universities in New Zealand don't have radio course. And neither does Weltec.

Plus I wanna go to London.Gangsta!2008-08-30 00:54:07

Dont RNZ run a radio course? I'm sure there is something local, possibly one that's run by ex radio broacasters.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Fair enough. I have a feeling there was one in Christchurch (but Christchurch...well).

The only things going for Vic Uni is that it is in Wellington, and therefore in Phoenix City. Other than that, Vic is lame.

Yep I'm pretty sure that this is the case. Could you alternatively do an exchange?

CPIT. Had a friend in the industry do her training there. Otherwise there's a radio school at the top of Cuba St. Radio broadcasting is more of a polytech niche than a university thing AFAIK.

Seconded Shame Massey doesn't have an Architecture course, I could use the company haha

I spent three days at Massey Design at the beginning of my degrees - wasn't my cup of tea. Although I had the impression that university was like what you saw on TV in the Otago O-Week coverage and I was so disappointed when I realised that wasn't the case! Haha. I then sat out the rest of the year at Vic Design before heading down to Otago for my Arts Honours degree.

Unfortunately with architecture, the choices are not plentiful. It's Vic or Auckland (well you can go to Unitec, but I wouldn't), and living in my home town was so much more appealing than living in Auckland.Carol2008-08-31 20:28:03

Hey Gangsta,

Buddy of mine at work here does some work for More FM in his spare time so I asked him about radio courses in NZ.

There's a diploma of Broadcasting at Chch Tech and then there's the Radio Training School in Wellington (264 Cuba St, Ph. (04) 385 1010).

He was telling me that when he used to do some hiring in the business that he preferred to take people from the RTS as they include more practical work and include some work experience at Radio Works as well.

He's happy to talk to you if you want some advice so PM me if you're interested and i'll put you in contact.

I talked to my Grandfather this afternoon and to Frankies dismay he thinks that I would qualify as a domestic student. I'm still going to contact the embassy and double check.
