I like this forum because for the most part you can say what you want. Sure we all say things we later regret but that comes from the passion we have towards the subject concerned. There are some threads that dont interest me so I skip them. 

For the surprising number of users and considering the wide variety of personalities, i think this place is great. Even those that i don't agree with most of the time, every now and then they come out with something that i do agree with.

We have a place on here to get our thoughts across and it is fun for the most part. Also the elite squad are pretty tolerant, i am surprised they have not banned a few more than they have for a few weeks. Probably myself for starters. Not that I am asking them to now.

The sensitive people should keep away from threads when we lose until 2 days after.

wow, just read back over the match thread. Yeh I can see what you mean- the level of expletive and reaction was high and the level of incisive  or funny observations were low. 

But having said that:

there were two things people were clearly not impressed with 1) The commentator and 2) The ref.

Also factor in that Hindmarsh has been the graveyard of our dreams for many many years, and we started out leading and ultimately lost in the last minute. Enormous frustration levels.

Perhaps some people have decamped from the match thread to twitter only?

No such thing as free lunch. Everybody accepts you do not suffer fools gladly. On the other hand, one can learn a thing or two about football analysis by reading your posts. A good forum needs a variety of members, and acceptance of that variety. I learned to tune out from things of no interest.

One of the positive aspects of this forum (that other posters did not mention) - we are surprisingly well educated and literate, compared to some sites (esp across the ditch). 

Either we truly lift ourselves to a new level when logging in to YF, or we are all a bunch of eurosnobs (like, we even spell things correctly).

There is one forum I read on a different topic that is basically a free for all based on the 'free speech' principle and that place is the wild west of forums. Anything logical just goes out the window straight away.

You think they are bad.  You should have seen the SBS - The World Game Forum before they gave it up as a lost cause.  Amazing place.

Ha! You guys need to visit the Misc section of the Bodybuilding.com forums. Its quite an experience.
