This will be turning square by the end of day 3...turning massively already...plus Swann is bowling very well...

Man, that's a bad DRS call. No wonder Khawaja is ropeable...won't hear the end of that...

Can we get rid of this system yet?
I'd prefer umpires just make mistakes as human error is a part of sport. Rather than wait 5 minutes of watching video for guesswork to happen or for them to get it wrong anyway.

Warnie must be feeling a right goose now..."Bringing Bresnan on at this stage lacks logic"....

They might be a Saffer English team...but it really is sweet seeing the Aussies being stuffed at cricket...

Hope England make it 4-0 at the Oval.

Three for me, and two for them.

When it was 100/1 yesterday I was chatting with someone at work, we were saying how it was a shame that Australia seemed to have sorted their shark out. I commented that I still held out hope as this Australian team have a knack of finding new ways to make us laugh uncontrollably. And then they lost 9/100

Anyone keeping an eye on the Blackcaps? Good knocks by Kane, Watling, Fulton and Boult at the End. Think we may struggle to get 20 wickets though.

Interestingly Boult (our usual #10/11) now has a test 50 and Bracewell (our usual #8) doesn't.

Also does anyone know anything much about this new guy Sodhi? Jeets must have really fallen off the radar!

N-Bomb will, with the kid being a ND boy. Sounds like he is nowhere near ready, just getting pushed because NZ Cricket are desperately wanting a leg spinner.

No he's like all leggies, extremely inconsistent. Don't know what our fascination is with leggies, if Sodhi was an off-spinner then he'd be nowhere near selection. Hasn't shown enough, even on the NZA or subcontinent to be deserving just yet.
Was a pretty awesome moment watching BJ bring up his ton, have always been a huge fan and proponent of his and it's great to see him cashing in, he's a great little player and a really good guy.
As for TBoult, lets just say I wasn't surprised in the slightest to see him stick around for so long and pile on the runs, he's a very capable batsman, it's some pretty nice lower-order depth we have at the moment.

I guess if you're going to give him a crack anywhere, Bangladesh is a decent option. But you would have thought that Martin and Kane would have been enough spin for a side. Does seem pretty random, but it's funny I haven't seen heaps about it in the news. He's played 14 first class games. Ha.

Agreed that BJ is class. I don't know why he keeps getting chucked in so low down the order. Boult might move his way up the tail soon also.

It's actually good that Trent stuck around as I was starting to complain about BJ being wasted down the bottom of the order, he always seems to be left on 30 or so and then either he gets left not out or has to start slogging and gets out - with an actual, non-Chris Martin tail, then we could see a bit more productivity.

Bit of a meh result all up. Hope there's something in the pitch for the 2nd.

There's a few people putting in some decent shifts over there atm. Wagner & Sodhi with the ball. Anderson, Kane, Ross, BJ & Sodhi again with the bat. Particularly gutsy effort by Kane coming back from getting hit. Bruce Martin must feel a bit edgy on the sidelines watching Sodhi take 3 with the ball and hit 50 with the bat...

Good signs.

REMINDER.... We are the Black Caps (#8/10 of test playing nations). So I'll take it.

What bugs me is that westpacs shape was partly determined to accomodate Cricket, yet over the last 5 or so years, their performances hav left the stadium as a full as the average Phoenix/Lions game. we would have been better off with a square shape and closer to the pitch stadium.

Not denying it is a great stadium but did they really pick the right shape?

Cricket players need to start winning and fill the stadium again.

LG this has been discussed 600,000 times on this forum. Most people agree that, in hindsight, the basin could have been upgraded (because it's already there) and a proper football stadium built. It's shark the way it is but nothing can be done now short of talking about it once every two months.

Fuck this stupid game

Perhaps if the Blackcraps started performing on the field, then the stadium might actually fill up.

@LG it's still shark watching cricket in that stadium. It does not feel like a cricket ground no matter how full.

@Tegal yeah it varies, 2 months tops!

Decent batting performance, good contributions from the rookies while Taylor brought it home. Certainly had my reservations about our ability to defend it though.
