The way I see it, is that its better than umpiring, so if the money is available, use it. But yes, some more ironic Indian wickets would be great, not enough to lose though...

Quite right, should definitely have added that.

it's a toughy-

that NZ and anyone playing against Aussie t-shirt v the serve the Indians deserve for opting out of the DRS

Geez I remember Aussie getting away with some shockers. I'm thinking of you Adam Gilcrhist LBW Vettori or Wiseman. I'm sure we would have beaten them much sooner if we'd had the DRS earlier.

Is it wrong of me to admit I love to see Indians hammered in the cricket, even if the hammering is done by the Aussies?

Dunno.  Aussies are still Aussie w**kers.

Who are the bigger dickheads:

Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Zaheer Khan

or

Warner, Ponting, Clarke, Haddin ...(actually the worst ones apart from Punter and Clarke have retired, but still)

No, I was torn. My hatred of Aussie cricket won me over, but I could definitely see it going the other way.

I like the Indian Cricket team, just not the BCCI.  Tendulkar is one of my favourite players and would love it if he got another hundred before he retires.

I much prefer it if the Aussies get a hammering. I'm probably the only one on here that thinks that though.

Nah I think I've come to the same conclusion. It's a very confusing time.

Allegedly

Myself a big fan of Dravid, when he isn't playing NZ.

Absolutely loved the Dravid Laxman innings to beat Aussie when no one expected to beat Aussie.

Tendulkar is just an amazing cricketer.martinb2011-12-31 20:35:19

India win the toss, and bats. Ghambir out 3rd ball.

Haha, Aus 2/11. Nothing wrong with the pitch, both captains would have wanted to bat. Just some good bowling and some poor batting. Lets hope it continues and Aussie get rolled. 4,5 and 6 are Aussie's strength so the next few partnerships are key.

Has anyone else been really dissapointed with Dhoni's test captaincy. Consistently negative in the field.

Great knock Clarke.

Brilliant effort from Clarke. Slightly confusing decision to declare so early, but incredibly unselfish.

the right thing to do. If india managed to bat for long enough to force a draw he would've been heavily criticised.

Yes, agreed, but I don't see why he couldn't go to an hour before the end of play. If they couldn't bowl India out in 2 and a bit days, it would be the bowlers fault, not Clarke's.

Edit: certainly not criticising the decision, as I said earlier, very unselfish.aitkenmike2012-01-06 22:01:11

Yeah, bit of a champion, an aussie c**t but a champion of a cricketer.

The big bash build up tonight was the Dan Vettori show. His team (bottom) currently ripping Hobart (unbeaten on top) up.

Think Clarke should have gone for the record and I'm sure a lot of Aussie thought the same- takes a bloody lot of effort to get back to the same place, and the conditions have to be right.

Still if the objective was to be sure of winning the game and put the series beyond doubt- leaving Sehwag/Dravid/Tendulkar/Laxman plenty of time to get out on a pitch where 3 batsmen have just scored big centuries is a good idea...

To be honest, I thought it was so unselfish it became very selfish, aka "look how great I am as a captain, making this decleration for the good of the team even though I could keep breaking records".

Should have kept going I reckon, had enough time to.

Yep, definitely an idiot for not pushing on towards 400. The game is stats driven, and in turn records driven. BC Lara understood this and that's why he will forever remain a cricketing legend. Clarke is just a t**ser who ruined the viewing for everyone who wanted to see records tumble.

Three for me, and two for them.

No i wouldn't. I never call Lara a selfish t**ser, unlike many. Same would apply to Clarke.

Im unlikely to say nice things about the guy no matter what he did so I will say he was in a win/win or a lose/lose situation kinda.

I'm f**ked off at how poor the Indians have been though, reminds me of the bad old days of Indian teams on tour.

I certainly wouldn't go so far as to call Lara a selfish t**ser, but there were certainly situations where he put himself before the team. Certainly wasn't a good captain.

No, I wouldn't have. He could have batted for an hour longer, and try to get the Australian or world record. If he got it, great, if he didn't, no harm done.

He'd still have had 200+ over to bowl India out the second time. Wonder if he'll look back on it in years to come and regret at least not trying for it.

Depends if he's obsessed with stats. Believe it or not not all cricketers are. Actually, I'd say far less are than aren't.

No mike I'm comparing the two.

Gale, Bravo, Warne, Hayden, Birt, Wright, Gibbs, McCullum, Vettori etc

vs

R.Taylor, Oram, Franklin, B.Taylor, Guptil, Styris, Southee, Bracewell, half a season of Murali, McCullum, Vettori etc.

Just a gap in quality there.
