More than likely not to happen as according to the weather experts it is meant to rain all day tomorrow.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Its amazing how much I can't stand their cricket team.  I support Aussie after NZ in every single sport (even if I do poke fun at their football results).  I am still gutted how they were knocked out by Italy in 06.  But their cricket team has just been so packed full of absolute assholes over the years I hope they go on to lose every game by an innings.

Against SA this is a distinct possibility too!

I can understand how you feel. I have the same thing with the AB's.

Basin is cricket. But England v NZ was good some time in late 60's early 70's.

Ryder looking good, he needs to be called up for the Black Caps pronto.

Permalink Permalink

Two things are clear at the moment:

1.  He is the form batsman in domestic cricket at the moment.

2.  He has no want to play cricket for NZ at the moment.

So whether he deserves a call-up or not, there's no point really debating it until he declares that he wants to be available for selection. And the Wellington fans on here should be pleased, the more he plays for them the better chance they have at getting some silverware.

Just make sure after matches are at McDonalds to ensure form continues

He's actually dropped a lot of weight compared to last year.

This tour seems like a complete waste of everyone's time.

Yup, can't really take anything away from this series, unless people think 30 over rained out games are important

If we couldn't complete one ODI then no way in hell a test match will be worth watching. Would hate to be the ground staff there for a test match.

Look for the Ian Anderson article on this tweet, and then half way through the article slipping this in.  Not that he would be implying anything of course.

Commentators: And we will see a great big hot spot there ...

...[ No spot visible on edge of bat ] ...

...It has been proven of course that the hot spot isn't always visible on the faintest of edges.

LOL!

Also, Siddle goes on to show he continues to be an objectionable...

Siddle and Pattinson both are (fill in swear here)

Haven't been watching today's play but have been reading - apparently a lot of bias in the commentary box, what a shock. At least they've stopped talking about slip formation....

Permalink Permalink

Every time the ball passes the edge of the bat, they act like its a wicket. One edge that fell well short of the slip, they also commentated as if it was a wicket.

Terrible commentary.

They are the worst in world sport. Particularly in the first game of a home tour like this at the beginning of their summer. Sometimes I think they've had too many drugs but they're just retarded.

I think it's most sad because they use to be so good to listen to back in the late 90's. Still a bit biased, but at least knowledgable and interesting. Has been a long slippery slope since then though!

The worst for me is Mark Nicholas - he's not even Australian, and he's the most rabid of them all. Listening to him doesn't feel like listening to a professional commentator, but like a drunken Aussie fan whose accent is undergoing an identity crisis.

I can remember NZ vs I'mheresohail in the early-mid 90s.  First ball of the test match, and he went for a huge blast/pull that went straight to Ken Rutherford.

He dropped it.

If you had never met an Australian before and you sat through a test match listening to them you would hope to never meet an Australian in your life.

I went to the game on Friday night and was shocked by the the lack people.  I didn't see the crowd announced (had to leave not long into the Firebirds innings) or in the article the next day.  Dare I say between 2 and 3 thousand showed up?

2,100.

Doesn't help that ticket prices went up $5 on last season's games. Not a lot but people remember paying a flat 20 and to me 3 hours of cricket at the Basin is worth that.
Worst thing is that they know they are going to make a loss on the gates because the reason they're having games there is for the 7.30pm Friday night TV crowds. SkyTV paid them a bucket load for it so I don't see why prices went up. Should be in their best interest to get people there for atmosphere and the better of the game etc.

Yeah I'd pay $20 for the basin, and the atmosphere that came with it. I'm not usually a fan of T20, but don't mind it at domestic level, plus the atmosphere at the basin was great and it was packed out.

$25 for a non-event at the stadium? no thanks.I'd pay $10 for that, $15 at a stretch.

Not to mention fresh tap beer at $5 a pop rather than $6.50 (?) plastic pet bottle beer - the worst kind.

Yeah did love the GrabOne season pass they had last year. Heading down to the basin for games, grabbing a hells pizza and some beers for cheap (ish) and chilling on the bank in the sun.

This year. Expensive + no atmosphere = big meh.

And it all comes back to if the basin had lights really which was nearly an option this year. Too bad they didn't go for it.
