Yup.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Yep. Love seeing all the retro 70's stuff, especially the cars.
Not sure what month it is supposed to be but he could prove he's from the future by saying that Sunderland will beat Leeds in the Cup final. No one in their right mind would believe that.

Quality stuff.
Keep the box switched on to 11pm for Jekyll which is also brilliant (affable Irish bloke takes a turn for the worse
)
Also, Gavin and Tracey (or was it Kevin and Sharon?) on Friday night was an absolute class act.

We need more cops like that hard-nosed detective (can't remember his name or rank) to smack the crims around !!

wongo, what you were watching is a thing called television
and in real life most humans don't necessarily enjoy wiping another human's blood, snot, sh*t, piss, vomit, or fragments of bone and tissue off their hands or boots
and personally, i think that is probably a good thing

The Sweeney is on the UK channel and it stands up very well. Great acting, believeable charactors that actually made mistakes and lose in the odd episode. Excellent stories.

the end of a very classy series
oh well at least the two hemispheres of televised football leagues are about to start

Recorded the last episode as was out tonight when it was on.
Have to say I'd have rathered being bought up in the 70's than the present day. The series is class

So now its 1981, with a woman detective from the 21st century.
UK 1981 means riots and a whole lot of trouble besides.

I'm starting to feel a tad jinxed.
Can't make it to the final.
Haven't got Sky to watch the final.
Didn't press record to see the last in the Life on Mars series.

I thought it was a class ending. He woke up from the coma, but then discovered he liked it better in the 70's (i.e in the coma) and jumped off the building, which would put him back in the coma (aparently).

Twas class indeed, althouh his full time return to the 70s may have been predicated on his death...thus choosing the top of a building, rather than the third rung of a step ladder....HarryHotspur2008-08-13 19:06:17

I found it a bit hard to get into. I preferred the chemistry between Sam and Gene better and Life on Mars used to concentrate more on the crime story and only briefly touch on Sam trying to communicate with present day. There seemed to be too much of that last night eg the clown.
Hopefully there'll be a few more blatant 80's references thrown in. Show more cars too. Would be nice to see some MKIII Capri's.

The song Ashes to Ashes was released in 1980 from the Scary Monsters album. I wonder if that had any bearing on when the new series was going to be based. I guess if they'd waited any longer and called it Lets Dance or Dancing in the Streets, it just wouldn't have the same impact.

I loved it. Thought it was much more edgy than the Sam Tyler version (which I also loved). The extra dimension of the 'psychiatrist'
cop 'knowing' her predicament gives it a slightly different twist. Thought the 1980s element was just right as if it was too overbearing it would become sing the song, forget the dialogue. Some of the asides were hilarious.

And somehow I feel that a relationship with Gene Hunt that is platonic is a more palatable prospect than a relationship in which we might be exposed to his pasty torso!!

not won overby the ne version, too over the top (sort of Rush Hour-ish - judged from the shorts for RH)
still better than most of what's on tv - but I'm still stuck with Sam T in the 70's
