Luke's playing in Wellington Real Groovy Records this Saturday at 1 pm.

Should be worth having a look.

Great minds...

Anything that separates Shane Warne from McDonalds has to be good.

Good lord. Takes me back. Must be almost 25 years since I saw him and Michelle Shocked (IIRC) at the old Opera House.

Translation: Old bastard with dodgy taste in music.

I know, I know, its serious!

I remember seeing him busk in Manners Mall in about '91. I asked him to play Mona Lisa, it being the only song of his that I knew (still is). He seemed less than thrilled, but played it anyway. I gave him 70c.

True story.

That reminds me, is Radio With Pictures still on? I suspect it isn't, but is there an equivalent show? Man, I loved RWP.

Who remembers the original presenter? Wasn't it Dr Rock?

Vaguely remember it.  Was more attentive when Karyn Hay was presenting

KP - we've moved past 6 o'clock closing here as well.

Which one did Dick Driver (snigger) present?  Was it RTR?

Karyn Hay is still reasonably fit for her age. Andrew Fagan did well.

RWP Sundays 9pm.
Weirdest person I've seen them interview was David Byrne lead, for Talking Heads.

He used to have a reputation for chasing people down the street if they watched him and didn't put money in his hat

That's it. Thanks.

Dick Driver was quite wooden at the beginning - looked very stiff and awkward.

Didn't watch much of him. RWP = Karyn Hay for me.

When I first started watching Radio with Pictures it was like a window into another world. My memory of seeing the video of The Enemy - Pull Down The Shades is so vivid. I was shocked that something so punk and so cool and so good actually came from New Zealand.

There's a good selection of RWP clips on YouTube. Here's a few favourites:

The Chills - I Love My Leather Jacket

Karen Hay link in the days before autocue!

Tall Dwarfs - All My Hollowness To You

Extended segment on Dunedin bands 1984

Don't know how or why but read it as
"Liz Hurley live (as in reside) in Wellington". Opened it up, little disappointing.
