This afternoon I went to bring in our washing and up the bank I could hear pigs. I bashed my way up (quite overgrown path) but still couldn't sight them. They seemed to be maybe 5-10 m away and I could hear one adult and several littlies.

They buggered off before I could get any closer.

Apparently there were around 10 a few years ago. .

Might be a call to the regional council tomorrow.

PS We have Wright's Hill reserve between us and the next road near the top of Wright's Hill in South Karori. Not exactly the back of beyond but also not built up coronation st environment either.

I would like to, next time they come around, but I don't think my Spear and Jackson spade with the number 5 handle is an effective killing weapon.

I wonder what Bear Grylis and his camera crew would do in this situation?

Didn't one Karori lady stick a knife in the guts of one of them a few years back? Bar-b-q at your place?

A mate of mine hunts pigs around Karori golf club because they get on the course and ruin the greens. That and he just likes to hunt for pigs. Says there are always a lot up in that area.

Fuck this stupid game

I've only got a Swiss army pocket knife so am not about to try that.

I do have some fresh fruit and a pointed stick which I'm not afraid to use if needs be.

BBQ would be good if my skills with the logan berry are up to it. I mean, we all like BBQs right?

Makara I can understand. We are quite suburban (our strip of reserve would be less than 100m wide and is between two streets). We've been here for about 5 years now and this is the first time I've heard them (otherwise just lots of tuis and kakas).

That I believe is the weapon of choice in Karori WEST (we like to think of ourselves as a bit better in South Karori).

A Spear & Jackson number 3 shovel.

Edit: Note this is an extremely well made shovel with a good handle, although perhaps better suited for soft, flatter places (Denley Moor for example), rather than more hilly, stony places such as Wrights Hill.

For this type of landscape a Spear & Jackson E-series digging spade may be more appropriate.

Given the title of this thread, I expect that once you have shot it / stabbed it / hit it with a shovel you will then harvest the intestines and wear the skin as a protective cloak.

Bear would drink his own urine while the camera crew either laugh or grimace.

Well there are 6 little-uns - seen today by SWMBO and Jnr Jnr in our back yard (i.e they had come down from the bank - using the path that I had bashed my way through a few days ago). Presumably mum was waiting up the bank.

Soon they will be knocking at the door asking for a cup of sugar I expect.

Crikey!  The other day Jnr Jnr heard "sheep" out the back.  Today we saw a wild kid and it's mum (goats that is) on the bank out the back of our neighbour's garden.

Where's a good cat when you need one?
