was just on ze news-they are coming to NZ in Nov.

Now, I have never been a fan, but I was 13 when the Black Album landed so that had a certain part to play in my formative years but by pure, or maybe not so pure, coincidence I watched "Some Kind of Monster", the doco about them recording St Anger, last night & it was a great watch. So now I am tempted to go see them

Any real fans out there buzzed up about it? for a non fan like me what is the song that typifies them? what album would you recommend buying first?

I'll be going.  Saw them at BDO a few years ago.

Two favourite albums are ..And Justice for All, and Ride the Lightning.  Followed by Master of Puppets and Death Magnetic.

Has to be somewhere with a big enough mosh orchestra pit"

Soft Rock needs a good venue for the subtleties

Michael Fowler Centre maybe?

Sits back, waits for spittle to fly

Mount Smart seems the obvious choice.  Big enough band to fill it. 2ndBest2010-04-05 21:01:36

ARC are going to run the show in Penrose... charge $500 for tickets then reduce the price to $200 a week beforehand.

They'll get a crowd of 5,657... then buy back the Big Top

Wellington is the New Zealand home of outdated 80s metal bands.

I would certainly pay to see them in Christchurch, but their appearance here is less likely than in Wellington.

Probably more likely than Wellington - you can get the 747s that the huge bands usually carry their sh*t in. It would have to be a stadium show in whichever city.

Never seen Metallica live as I was busy when the came over the BDO, so looking forward to it.

Nah, it'll sell out because people will want to go to this event cos they will actually have heard of the people they'll be buying tickets to see.

Great band live, looking forward to seeing them again  m/ m/

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Metallica began and ended with Whiplash. MAster of Puppets one of the greatest disappointmets for me. In fact that may have been one of the stimuli for searching out early grindcore, as i was so saddened by the softening of Metallica.

So thanx guys HarryHotspur2010-04-06 09:53:49

Metallica stopped making good music 20 years ago, so not really tempted to go and see them.

And, I also happened to see few bit and pieces from 'Some kind of monster' over the weekend, and thought the guys came accross as a bunch of fairly insipid and, to an extent, unpleasant middle-aged men.

What cos I said fairly insipid?

To be honest, I don't think Metallica (or more accurately Hetfield and Ulrich) have ever been the poster boys for being reasonable, unselfish human beings.

i just bought three tickets for a friend on my credit card, ticketmaster very easy no stuff ups had it done in less than 3 minutes i wish ticketek would take note and learn something about giving good service to it's customers.

personally i can do without metallica but if thats what floats my mates boats,  he was pretty happy with his purchase.wednesday night concert not really a good idea but if it sells out reasonably quickly i guess they may have friday pencilled in for an extra show.
