I am moving house next week and want to take the opportunity to get rid of my old school Telstraclear TV (no MySky / T-Box at the moment).

All I really want in the new place is MySky (inc. sports and movies) and broadband between 20GB - 60GB.

Currently paying $145 and can't seem to get the upgrade coming in at any less than about $185 a month with the various companies I have checked out (Sky, Vodafone, Orcon, Slingshot etc) and that's not including installation fees and all the other crap they sting you for.

Anyone know of any good deals around?

Also, is it feasible (if not perhaps moral) to cancel my current Telstraclear (in my name) and sign up as a new customer (in my girlfriend's name) at the new place? This avoids a 'moving' fee of $60 that they seem to want...If that was the case, then I'd maybe be keen to stick with Telstraclear and get a T-Box, but I've heard they have a few problems so not sure!

Can't help with the rest of the question, but I wouldn't have any problems doing this. I hate companies that penalise you like this for staying with them. I doubt that switching address etc for an existing customer costs them more than adding a new customer to the system.

We get the whole package deal through Vodafone - phone line, sky, and 60GB broadband. If you do that, and get the 20GB or 60GB Vodafone upgrade to MySky for free, and we have been happy for that service.

Not sure how that compares to Telstra as it is not available in our area, but my parents are, and they have been through at least two, possibly three T-Box's so far in the last year. I'm sure they will sort it eventually as it is likely just software teething problems, but I know it is a pain for them at the moment.

Seems their fee is for a technician to do the practical work of moving all the gear. Though after 2-3 years of being their customer, you'd think they'd be prepared to cover that fee rather than risk losing the customer, which they may well do.

As an aside, I don't actually know if the new place is wired for cable tv or not so T-Box might not even be an option (brand new flats in town). They are wired for Sky.

How much do you pay for the package?

We really don't need the phoneline and if we got it we'd only end up using it and also getting extra added to the bill every month!

From my digging around I reckon I can get MySky, with Sky, including sports and movies + naked broadband 20GB from Vodafone all for a total of $170 (including the deal you speak of - upgrade to Mysky for free). Just checked the usage meter on the Broadband and 20GB should be enough for the both of us in these days of the Skynet law making me a bit cautious with downloading!

Just had a look at the website, and looks like you can get 'naked broadband'(no phoneline) too, with the same deal. We pay $170ish, but no movies.

I get $55 for your naked broadband + $70 (and whatever movies costs a month) for Sky. COuld be reading wrong, but don't see how you get $170.aitkenmike2012-02-01 23:28:51

Yep, I used to have exactly that for $128ish a month - $55 for 20GB and $70ish for Sky + Sports (no movies). Never had any issues with either and would recommend it.

From memory the broadband account must be linked to an On Account mobile to be $55 though. Means you need to have a plan with them, otherwise it was like $30 more I think. But this may have changed so best to double-check.neenee2012-02-01 23:45:37

Correct, it's $30 more which makes is $75 a month for 20GB Broadband which is rather expensive IMO, not quite sure how they justify $30 more but I guess they are trying to get people onto the phones as well.

I am no further forward incidentally. Was almost signed up with Vodafone / Sky tonight but their dubious online sign up stopped them getting a new customer - none of the discounts were available to select the entire way through the sign up process so I wasn't sure what I was about to sign up for.

Am now going back to thinking of signing up for Telstraclear again in my partner's name as they are actually the cheapest across the Board...just depends whether or not I can get cable TV at my new place...property management company couldn't even tell me which was annoying.
