Thanks very much for the support everyone. Yep tough going for many up here. I'm lucky personally in that my little village of Matata is draining very well. Not so lucky for quite a few kids at the school I teach at. Civil defence, lots of sad / angry people around, waiting to go see their flooded houses, try and find their pets etc.
Our football pitch has emerged from the flood waters, waiting to see if it goes under again tomorrow. Civil defence have set up camp at the Awakeri Events Centre which is our home base.
Anyway, fingers crossed that the cyclone isn't too bad when it gets here tomorrow.
