Reporting to you "Live" from the silt bed......... Fingers crossed his damage is minimal. Might deserve a 60 second clap in the 10th minute should he be at the game? What do you others think? A support clap, perhaps not just for leggy but for all those affected??
Thanks very much for the support everyone. Yep tough going for many up here. I'm lucky personally in that my little village of Matata is draining very well. Not so lucky for quite a few kids at the school I teach at. Civil defence, lots of sad / angry people around, waiting to go see their flooded houses, try and find their pets etc.
Our football pitch has emerged from the flood waters, waiting to see if it goes under again tomorrow. Civil defence have set up camp at the Awakeri Events Centre which is our home base.
Anyway, fingers crossed that the cyclone isn't too bad when it gets here tomorrow.
Cheers

blue sky, cliudy in Upper Hutt. Rained a bit in the night but otherwise we got off light and the weather forecasters whom probably weren't even born in 1968, over exagerated how bad this was going to be.

Why poor form? Just said what it was like this AM. Now sunny in Porirua. Wellington dodged a bullet. BOP got a bigger hammering the other day. Oh and I am going up that way tomorrow. Hoping to help. Also those on here who lived through April 10 1968 will know just how bad it was.
There was no over-exaggeration from anyone, the forecasters presenter their scientific findings based on their forecasting techniques, which said that the storm was likely to be very bad.
Just because the storm weakened doesn't mean they were going exaggerating.
Not the forecasters. It was more like media outlets trying to out do each other's Hyperbole. By all means give the warnings but cut the Hyperbole

It's like how every tiny earthquake gets the "BREAKING NEWS" treatment on slow news days. Causing people to freak out over nothing.
No flooding but we were without power for nearly 24 hours up here in Clive. Although admittedly when we realised the power wouldnt be on this morning we packed up the kids and drove to the outlaws house in Waipukurau. Fudge it was windy though. It hasnt been that windy since the last time it was that windy!!!

Coops, storm in a tea cup at the Outlaws?
Was a pretty large tea cup LG.

Over night here, we had a bigger "storm" with a lot of rain, more than the so called "Cyclone bjgger than the Wahine storm".
Oi Oi, is thereanything you or your neighbours/community need? clothing/bedding etc? I just did a clean out so have stuff going spare. happy to arrange a courier or something up that way if it can be put to use.
End of an era. Vinnie - It's over.
If anyone cares for my inane babbling follow @iluvnix17 on the Twitter.
Cheers Tracey, nothing my family needs thanks, we weren't flooded. I know there are piles of donated clothes and goods available to those in need, but I don't know what's lacking. Thanks for thinking of us.

Oi, the gorge to Gisborne is fine. Road from Rotorua to Whakatane is fine. But to go to Opotiki, you have to go via Whakatane and Ohope. Big mess alright. Fantastic thunder storms yesterday morning and again last night. Fork lightening.
Good to see the support from all around. We (Plains Rangers) were at home to Tauranga City yesterday, first game back since the cyclones. After only one possible training session in three weeks we were very rusty against the league leaders. They beat us 3 - 0. Excellent attitude from them though, they had a whip round from the players after match and made a nice donation to the Edgecumbe community.
