I'm trying to track down the name of an old (I think British) TV programe my son used to watch in the 80s here in NZ. I don't know the name of it but I recall the theme had a sax in it kinda like a ska song. I want to say its called "The Lansky Children" or thats what it sounds like they sung but a search comes up with nothing. Around the same time that Grange Hill used to air.

Here's an 80s series I had forgotten about.

Chelmsford used to be the big town that we would visit every now and then when we were in Essex. It hasn't changed much over the years.

Bloody horrible town Chelmsford. I also remember the show, coked-up alternative comics making an ok tv show.

Basildon was our closest town. The idea behind the show was quite good. The execution... well, proof that it's not just the England football team that is naff.

Maybe The Latchkey Children? Early 80s kids show I have a very vague recollection of.

Odd stuff used to turn up as kids' shows back then. Just been watching a DVD set of Sapphire and Steel, which scared the bejesus out of me as a kid. Kind of sci-fi supernatural horror with quite a dark adult subtext. It's still brilliant.

Never saw it.  Sapphire and Steel was good tho.

Mostly Joanna Lumley, but David MaCallum was OK too - liked him better in the invisible man (where he played the part of Tim Brown).

David MacCallum got me thinking about Colditz, then Hogan's Heroes and then I read about Colonel Klink who was played by Werner Klemperer ... And this is the bit that is quite amazing:

Werener is the son of Otto Klemperer, the legendary conductor.  The Klemperers were Jewish who fled Germany and settled in the USA.  Werner himself served in the US Army and after his stint as Colonel Klink he went on to become a conductor just like his dad.

I had never made the connection before although had often wondered about them sharing the same surname.  Interweb is so good sometimes.

I was thinking "hang on the character wasn't called Tim Bro.." then I realised.

I loved the Invisible Man, the fact that he did most of his stuff in the nuddy, always amused me.

The Hogan's Hero star Bob Crane met a rather sad and odd end.

What about The Kids From 47A? Was that just a different name for The Latch Key Kids?
