So I'm going to be buying a 360 or a PS3 soon (probably not any of the others, though Porters nose is tempting) and I really don't know which one is best. Any help would be appreciated.
The reason is I want something to play FIFA on as well as to watch DVD's. I'm thoroughly sick of FIFA 2003 on the PS2.

I have a PS3 and I'm very happy with it.
Never really used the X-box, so can't offer any meaningful comparisons.

i also have a ps3 and happy with it, have a couple of friends with x-box but have never really played on one, they often come round to play on the ps3 and seem to think it is a little better than the x-box but it is a personal choice if you have always played on x-box you would say it is better and the same with a ps3

PS3s do everything much nicer. Don't be fooled by the some internet rubbish.
Also sounds like you want to go more the "home entertainment" way rather than the "play online with friends way" which def makes PS3 a better choice.

Just took apart my PS2 and gave it a damn good clean. There's a good youtube clip to show how it's done - I used an upright bicycle pump instead of a $30 can of compressed air to cblow out all the dust.
FIFA12 running really quickly now. Sadly my Killzone and WRC4 discs still don't work - might have to see if they can be resurfaced.

I have an XBox 360 on which I play COD MW3 for about 20 minutes every Saturday morning before I get bored. I also played a bit of FIFA12 on it but a 9 year kid for Korea shattered my confidence.
I mainly use it to stream films from my laptop to the TV, for which it is excellent (I had an AppleTV for a while, but much prefer this method) although I imagine that a PS3 does this equally as well.
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
