My mate is having a smoke machine at his 21st tomorrow night, my question: Will it set the fire alarms off?

I'm thinking no but does anyone know?

thanks.

It's dried ice right? So I doubt it.

Make sure you have plenty of ventilaation in the room you are using it. the condensation from this will get the floor wet if you dont. wet dance floor = lolz

It will. Parachute did an event at The Rock in Wellington last year. Even though we told them not to use the smoke machines because they kept setting off the fire alarms which we couldn't turn off for osh reasons. So they kept using them and as a result we ended up with 3 fire engines and stopping the gig for 30minutes.

I think the machine idea got canned because they'd rather not have the building evacuated.

My ex did lasers and had 3 smoke machines of diff grunt and arranging for smoke alarms to be turned off was first priority before even bothering to set up. Many buildings round Wgtn esp apartments have alarm systems that can't be switched off for various reasons so will be a no go.

I was doing visuals once years ago on an 18wheeler truck bed in shed 6 and the DJ & I ended up being the only two left in the warehouse cause thought the alarms were part of the music as we were mega munched. fire brigade was most impressed

We used a couple of smoke machines for a Shakespeare production a couple of weeks ago, no problems with the fire alarms, which were on. Some machines/alarm systems may not work well together, but it shouldn't be hard too check.

An evacuation does suck, a play I did about a month ago had to be evacuated on opening night as we started the last scene, still not 100% sure what caused it either. Got photos with fire trucks though.
You know we belong together...

Smoke machines should be everywhere.
