One of NZ's most legendary football administrators Eileen Langridge QSM - Eileen was a tireless worker for football in Canterbury and the South Island and spent countless years of service on the former Canterbury Football Association and for Canterbury United when the Dragon's were first established, plus Woolston / Cashmere Technical in later years.

Also a life member CFA, NZFA as well at both the Western AFC and Christchurch Technical clubs and served as president of the Mainland Football Federation for 5 years.

Aged 96 and still very active in her final years.

I used to see Eileen twenty years ago when she was at the Canterbury Football Association and it's amazing to think that she was already 76 years old then.

An amazing and enthusiastic lady, always positive about things and with a mind sharper than most people in their twenties.

She remembered seeing her local West Ham play in the 1920's as a girl in London and remembered all the personalities in NZ football going back to the 1950's.

A real "people person", she took the time to chat to anyone and made you feel welcome.

Eileen was working 30 hour weeks as administrator at Woolston / Cashmere Technical in her 90's.

Most of her administrative work over the years was unpaid.

Mr Regis was my favorite player of all time

Just wonderful to watch

His goal in the WBA 5-3 victory at Old Trafford is an absolute pearler.

A rare talent and by all accounts an amazing human being

For those who haven't seen it I strongly reccomend watching the game I mentioned above. Football of a different era for sure but better in some ways than the billion dollar kicks we live with now

Yes a classy player: very quick & loved the overlap. A comments man on the Beeb for yonks; his extensive football knowledge and warm character shone through.

The Fall's Mark E Smith dies aged 60. I heard of the Fall way back in 1980 when in the UK. John Peel played a few of their songs on his show.

He should have given himself a yellow for simulation. No way was that push strong enough for drop him like that! No, I do not like players touching any referees.

Heard it on the Italian radio when I was walking the dog at 530am this morning - really shocked.  Apparently he had a full medical just last week which he passed with flying colors.  Played for Roma in 14-15 IIRC, very competent CB, athletic, powerful.  Not the best player in the league, but certainly good enough to play for Italy and carve a great career in Serie A.

The saddest thing is that he leaves a partner and 2 year old child behind - that stuff (as a father) just breaks your heart!

I used to wave at Stephen most days "Hello Stephen" I'd say  cycling past. I'd spot him usually around the Anchor pub on Silver Street.

I remember waving to him and then 5 minutes later he got hit by a car apparently.

He always had amazingly beautiful women "tending" to him in those days. Not just super-model hot but ethereal - unreal women.

I cannot blame him at all.

Cambridge lost one of it's finest. He wanted to run over Thatcher only managed Prince Charles.
