Sad news... just watched him on DG's On an Island DVD last week, was only done last year...

FYI: I'm referring to the Floyd founding Richard Wright, not the "goalkeeping" one...

You do remember where the goalkeeping one came from and has returned to as No. 1 this season ?

I do... I also know where he went after his first spell there but wasn't quite able to crack it... which was a shame as I thought and hoped he'd do well...

I'm gutted. I've been a Floyd Fan since the late 70's. (Wish you were here in '75) I had heard there was a 2009 world tour being planned including Roger Waters. I would have given almost anything to have gone to one of the concerts. Now it's not to be. Still I saw them in Aussie in '88. I was 8 rows from the front in the middle at the Sydney Entertainment Center.

A great keyboardist whom contributed to a lot of the bands work - not just playing but composing.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Early on especially, and later with the The Division Bell too... TGGITS is one of the most underated and unique pieces of music I've heard...

The world tour was never gonna happen LG... just wishful thinking by some promoters... look at what DG has said ad nauseum since the Live 8 gig... sad, but understandable from their perspective... oh well... DVD's out again!!!

Saw them when I was 14 in '88 up in Dorkland...mad gig...I went with my mum and her hippy sister and brother in law and their ultra hippy mates. Got mad stoned from second hand smoke alone!

Western Springs ?

Yep.

Knew we were in for an interesting night when we stood looking for a place to sit and a voice said "I don't care where ya f**kin' sit, long as it's not on my hand!" and I looked down and Mum is standing on this huge biker dudes fingers! Shortly after this him and his girlfriend took a handful of pills and we never heard another peep out of them all night!

I had a mate who's parents live/lived over the back fence, so we used to get well chopped there on confiscated booze before we strolled in... watched 3 or 4 shows over the fence as well, things that I wouldn't pay to see (Genesis, Bowie and Jagger come to mind).

Bowie's Serious Moonlight Tour?

That was my first ever gig, up at Athletic Park.

Saw PF at Auckland in the 80's. Greatest Show ever. Can't forget the flying pig, the bed that raced overhead from the back of Western Springs and the first ever quadrophonic sound used with the PA at the back as well.
I still remember the crowd's singing drowning out DG on Wish you were here

I'd say so, the only time they've been here. To still remember a concert so clearly after 20 years says something. I have been to plenty that I can't even recall (for being bad shows, not other reasons!)

The one and the only. Ever.

Bugger it - would give a testicle to see them again, I didn't really appreciate what I was seeing at the time

Same. I knew I liked them but wasn't huge on them. some of the songs now are etched in my brain forever. Still, I knew I had seen something special and I was right - 300+ concerts since and nothing's come close.

The best concerts ever were Floyd ones, not only musically true to the Albums but the lighting and stage effects made it a complete evenings entertainment. The band always insisted that the music take the stage with the show and that they (The band) were a minor part of it.
