I somehow missed that he had died. Brilliant fantasty/horror/SF writer. If you've never read a fantasy novel or you like fantasy but never read it try Mythago Wood. Very different from orcs and elves and dragons and stuff. Set in WW2. If you are into your psychology, Carl Jung and the concept of archetypes also this is the book for you.
The book resonates long after reading it.

Don't know this guy I'm afraid but it does remind me how appalled I was to find out that JG Ballard had died almost a month after the event. Don't know if there is much Jung in his books but there are enough freaks, perverts and deviants to keep me happily occupied on a rainy day.

Yeah I've read a fair amount of Ballard. One of the greats of New Wave scene of the 60's. I notice another one of that era M John Harrison is writing for the Guardian these days?
If you want something very different I would go and try Mythago Wood.
