It's nearly started and I know lots of people in the fever don't like rugby but know there are a few who do. How do you guys rate our chances? Who is going to get out of the pool? Upset of the tournament?

I am also writing a blog previewing all the teams if anybody wants to take a look.

1/4 finals...oh no, England do that, make it semi finals. Sonnyboy to give away the ball that leads to the try to knock the AB's out.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I'm looking forward to it DT, especially the "Pool of Death" and the Fijians giving it to the hosts in the first game - looking at the state of the England squad it's by no means a done deal.

We'll do ok and whilst I don't "expect" us to win it... I'm looking forward to a tournament where there is no clear favourite and a good 5/6 teams that on their day could beat any other.

Bring it on!

Not a big rugby supporter but Ill catch as much as I can.

It would be good to see us actually win one away from NZ.

Looking forward to watching SBW come on, do a stupid handshake, shoulder charge someone, get sent off for the rest of the game, and the commentators to incorrectly claim its legal in league again.

We'll win it - can't see anyone else topping us.

Similar build up to 2011 and we have a team with a lot more mental fortitude to win overseas than we did in 2003 and 2007.

World Rugby is pretty weak right now and we are head and shoulders above the rest - we had to play awfully and Aussie had to play out of their skin to take the Rugby Championship.

  • Ireland & Argentina the dark horse
  • France to give it a good crack
  • England to buckle under pressure
  • South Africa - not yet but I think they will dominate rugby for the next 4 years after this WC
  • Aussie - no no no.

"...sure beats doin' stuff."

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. Bit of a shame the time zone is so crappy for us though.

Have no idea who'll win it. We'd obviously start as favourites, but it all comes down to the performances in those last three games. If we go into one of those games like that game in Sydney we'll be in trouble.

Any tournament like this needs a few upsets, which is why the 2011 one was great with the likes of Tonga beating France and a few others going really close to big upsets. It would be great to see someone like Samoa to get through group B, and England/Aus to get knocked out of Pool A.

As an England fan I'm not sure we can win it but should have a chance of going far at home anyway. Our group is tough but think we can get out of it, particularly given Wales look like they have lost Halfpenny. Would like to think we can make the semi final and from then you never really know. Hard to look past NZ, but it always is for every World Cup and they haven't won it away from home yet. They'll probably win but don't think it's guaranteed.

It's worked out that I'm going to be between jobs for about half the tournament (in between finishing the current one and starting the new one) which will be quite good for watching games. Likely be dumping Sky after it's finished.

Great that it has started but the tmo usage is crazy. Hope the rest of the tournament isn't like that

it's the inevitable result of using TMO. Better off getting rid of it completely.

Love the Japan upset, watched long highlights of the game and they deserved it, was never really overwhelmed by the occasion

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Heard Nigel Yalden on the radio say the refs have been instructed to use them and the yellow card in pool play.
