So Someone was saying that if the world cup games dont sell out there will be a blackout in coverage for that area.

for example if Auckland host a game and it doesn't sell out no one in Auckland can watch it on tv.

This sounds so far fetched i don't believe it.

so i guess im asking for confirmation that this guy is in fact a mentalist

Would think that would be very hard to do, in Aussie they do similar, but I think thats only on the free to air channels.

Why the f*ck would you do that? Sky/ FTA Tv channels are there to make money from advertising from the breaks in coverage. Why should they give a sh*t if the stadium is half full or not?

I can't believe that they would agree to it  if it proposed by the IRB who lets face it need Sky more than Sky needs them.

So you punish people who can't make it to the game for whatever reason, poverty, jobs, illness etc? Would not the government step in and say "pack it in"?

Yeah but Ryan's said they've done this sort of thing before in Aussie? I'm not saying he is a mentalist I just can't believe the logic behind it.

They do it in Australia, certainly for cricket but I'm not sure about other FTA sports. That will have something to do with the nature of cricket I guess and the fact they have anti-siphoning laws which guarantee sports of national importance are free to air.

No chance of this happening, it would be utterly mental.
