Cannot see a thread on it, so thought I would start one.  Europe vs USA! USA! USA! at Celtic Manor.
 
Side Story - I am the sort of golfer who goes round 9 holes at Macara (sp?) in about 55 shots, so I am not very good.  When Mrs Mac and I had just started going out (many years ago) for my birthday she took me to Celtic Manor for the weekend - sneaky present as I went and butchered the golf course while she had spa treatments all day.  Present for me, huh?  Anyways, what a f**king course.  It is a bit longer than Macara (sp?) and although the first hole was a giggle, in about 6 hours I had got through about 10 holes before packing it in and hitting the 19th.  This weekend, when I watch Tiger put one in the rough, I can think to myself "I know the struggle you are having, mate".
 
So, Team Europe off to a good start leading 3 of the first 4balls

usually, but the Ryder Cup is the one event I love to follow.  It is the same with the Ashes - usually I don't bother much with test cricket, but I love an Ashes series.

Europe win the first point with Westwood and Kymer winning.  Remaining 4balls are looking good for the USA!USA!USA!

Love the Ryder Cup, im like Frankie in that don't really follow golf but love the atmosphere of a Ryder Cup. Seeing the Europeans walk onto the first tee and hearing the crowd singing and chanting is awesome! Great television.

How does this all work?

Does one European play against one American and whoever get's the best over 18 holes wins? I've never understood matchplay (basically cause I've hardly watched it)

Europe win by 1 point, 14 and a half to 13 and a half. with Graeme McDowell winning it for the Euros.
