What about someone doing a thesis on the YF? There's gotta be a degree in there somewhere - perhaps for psychological services??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I heard of a 17 year old who got a job in a government dept call centre and has started on $37K. I bet she's glad she didn't have to stay until she was 18.

yea but hard to go further than that without a degree, same thing that i had done at that age but in a bank instead...you talking about labours new possible policy?

ha, I think I'd be lucky to get $38k when I've completed my Midwifery degree, unless I got a position in middle management of Capital and Coast, the health system in this country is seriously flawed.

I was watching the news the other day and they were goin on about some politician (don't ask me who I never take notice) and he earns something like $7k a week! I wouldn't even know what to do with that kind of money!

It isnt a case of under-funding, it's that there's a huge holes and flaws in the system that the money falls into or gets swallowed by. My mum is an ecconomist and did a study on it a couple of years ago.

Basically, PHO's and pretty much every other Labour health initiative stinks.
In fact, the PM's husband and his academic mates studied the health system of the 90's and found that it was more productive and better equipped etc. Though to aviod a scandal of course they decided that it was all down the "hardworking and ever suffering Doctors, Nurses and Administrators."

It's also a myth that Labour have done anything good in terms of our ecconomy, in fact it has worsened over the last 9 years.

economy may have got worse but that would be due to higher tax of the rich to benefit the lower calsses, but average standard of living i would say has increased for sure...

Okay, I can't prove that it's worsened but the economy improved steadily from the late 80's until now. And the government goes on about reducing unemployment, 50,000+ jobs have been created by the government in the last few years. A bit like how they used to use the railways.

A tax cut or reduction in the rate of GST would benefit everyone, especially the poor.

but then you would get less health funding....

but then govt would have less to spend on education, health, infastructure etc....labour has introduced higher tax for those who earn more so that they can provide more funds for the above, which is why if you state that the economy hasnt increased at such a rate but standard of living has definately increased...also the global market due to the US subprime mortagae sector has been hammering the international markets, but thats only within the last yr....

But reducing tax and making it simpler would reduce the amount of people IRD need to employ and if we got rid of working for families at the same time it would give even more money back to the government to do things with.

Also, didn't I just point out that the health system eats money and needs to be re-structured again?

But the rate of tax is sucking middle class families down. I know it has to my family and to others, what they need to do is not tax up to something like 15,000 dollars.

"But reducing tax and making it simpler would reduce the amount of people IRD need to employ" lol what??? if we got rid of working for families that would segregate the nations classes even more as those familys in lower class wouldnt get the support they need to learn to get jobs and healthcare etc...
