Security in India?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

"We warn the international community not to send their people to the 2010 Hockey World Cup, IPL (Indian Premier League - a cricket competition involving international players) and Commonwealth Games. Nor should their people visit India - if they do, they will be responsible for the consequences."

and http://www.radionz.co.nz/audio/national/ntn/2010/02/18/terrorist_threat_to_commonwealth_games_in_india

This is a tough on is it not? Just how seriously do you take a threat like this? How do you deal with it?

As an aside: I am also fascinated by, reading through a lot of articles today,  the number of security experts/consultants that are available.

I like how all the athletes from Oz are taking a brave stance, and refusing to give in to terrorists, when it's the innocent Indian public who are far more likely to suffer at the hands of these lunatics.

Hard to tell here in NZ at the moment... a couple of athletes on the radio , this morning, said  that they would go. The athlete in the radio clip above indicates that she would go.

Fascinating claim about the 313 Brigade.
Brigade 313 is the coalition of five jihadi organizations that have been the to-go groups for most of Pakistan-based terror operations during last decade (coalition of Lashkar-e-Tayba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, Harkatul Jihad al-Islami, Harkatul Mujahideen al-Alami and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi). Brigade 313 members have been known to be working with Bin-Laden as well as the Pakistani spy agency (ISI) and the Pakistani military.

Guff about who the 313 Brigade are - here.

It's the responsibility of the host to provide the security for any visiting athletes. If they can't, they shouldn't retain hosting rights. It's not fair to place this kind of crap on the athletes.

I fully support these events being hosted by India, but if they cannot ensure the safety of their guests, these events should be relocated.

Don't give into this kind of bullsh*t. Al qaeda would be mad to create itself another sizable enemy anyway.

most security experts have a distinguished career in terrorism. Except terrorism for us is not called that, it's always something else.

take Robert Kupperman for example.

the most offensive or alternately humorous one depending on my mood is Fox News screening War Heroes hosted by Oliver North.

I bet less people will die at the Commonwealth Games this year than the Winter Olympics.

Mike

it was an aside to your comment on the plethora of terrorism/security experts. How many are graduates from the School of the Americas for instance?
