My wife watches Shortland St. and has done for years. I just sat through ten minutes of it gorging down a Big Bikkie before coming on here.

I have to say that it is the most poorly written, poorly acted garbage it has ever been my misfortune to observe. The guy how plays Scottie (dunno his name but it sure aint Laurence Olivier) is quite probably the worst actor I have ever seen. In fact, he should be prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act.
Anyhow, a question occured to me. In which episode of Shortland St did the folllowing happen;
One doctor overrided another's decision saving a patient from quick death,
Yet another nurse got bludgeoned to death by a rampant serial killer,
One character began an affair with another under the noses of their current partners,
Someone get pregnant after one, just one, misguided drunken encounter with the hospital nerd.
The answer, of course, is all of them.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the television history spectrum.  I've recently managed to get my hands on the complete set of the World at War 1970s doco series (narrated by Olivier).  If your kids have the slightest interest in history - get it for them.  If not - force them to watch all 26 episodes.  They'll be better for it.

You a psychiatrist then, TJ?

Shortland Street? I'm proud to say that I've never seen it and, perhaps surprisingly, have absolutely no urge for that situation to change.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Think he'd be very sick indeed if he got sandwiched between those two.

Stevo, that wouldn't be World At War would it?  Brilliant doco series.  Watched it as a kid.

I had a fellow Aussie ex who tried to get me to watch H&A and Neighbours out of "patriotism". We broke up after my NSW bet her Maroons in State of Origin. Shortly afterwards I started dating NZers.

Unfortunately, my new flatmate insists on watching Shortland St instead of TCGW. Bugger.
