Having suffered a couple of games I gotta say this. I usually go to the Hurricanes and on my first game, I'm tempted to start a chant "we're here to watch the League". Why? because Rugby Union is almost identical to League now and these new stupid rules make it even more so.

Some are stupid, However I think it's better than before. At least where not waiting half the match for the ball to make it's way (often illegally anyway) to the back of rucks.

Back in the 60's/early 70's Rugby was even better than today. So much so the AB's V baabaa game is recognised as one of the best ever games by many plaudits.

The rules were simple, any hands in the ruck were sprig fodder!

Couldnt agree more. No better way to clear bodies lying around on the ball in the ruck...

Allegedly

rugby was not better in the 60's. im sorry lg, but it just isnt. its faster, tougher and more skillful today. far to much kicking back in the day. not sure about these rules yet. i thought they would really suit the chiefs but not so tonight, hopefully nxt week we can get our big loosies in2 the game and our awesome outsides

Tougher? The players these days have designer gym physical appearances and they can't handle the tough tackles. Look at the AB's "Reconditioning Camps" from the last world cup and all the inuries those players suffered. Take out all the shoulder padding and give them a heavy cotton jersy like Pine Tree or Kirkpatrick wore and we'd see how tough they are. Faster, you bet, but there's far more stoppages now. and back in the 60's they didn't get thrown water bottles every 2 minutes. It was a wedge of Orange and one drink at half time!

We shall disagree on this point but that's cool because it might get a lot of views expressed which we both will enjoy reading.

Dont no how you figure that they lead 11-8 at halftime and then went down 32-14

So everytime the Phoenix lost a game you have said they didnt look good?

You dont have to win to look good.

fair enough lg. it just really frustrates me people who you hear on talkback (mainly being led by there spiritual guru deaker) people w**king on about how players from back then would go now and youd never see pinetree do something like that. such a different game with different requirements. and dont get me fuking started on the reconditioning programmes and that twat henry.

as for the guy that said the chiefs looked good...... well what game were you watching. donald ,who could be if he became consistent the no 2 first five in the country, didnt fire and if he doesnt our outsides dont.

i really think the chiefs have one of the best equipped teams to deal with these new rules, smaller agile tight 5, strong fast ball running loosies, 2 good halfbacks with good passes, donald who can be great and probably along with the tahs the most potent outsides in the competitions. they really need to sort there game and if they can i thnk they will be tough to beat.

well you know us chief fans, forever optimistic

I am so disinterested in Super 14 this year its unreal. I really could not care less. None of the teams excites me at all. Having suffered so called highlights of the Sharks and Western Force I dont think I will watch again at all.

League is far better; the recent UK Superleague games have been very uptempo and very exciting.

I went to Wakefield on Friday night to watch the Leeds Rhinos smash the Wakefield Wildcats - great fun (although very cold).
