With only 40 votes in it, it is entirely possible. Interesting to see if the special votes do tip it the other way. Should know by Monday at the latest.

Does John Banks losing means he's on the council?
Permalink Permalink

Nope. Nothing to do with the council. He could of ran for a spot on the council but didn't.

How can she try and claim that she is an anomaly being a centre right mayor in Wellington, when the last 3 mayors I can remember are her, Blumsky and Wilde?

I've always struggled to understand why environmentally conscious people have an aversion to water meters*. It is an increasingly scarce resource.

Would they also like to see Electricity meters go?

* I think I know the answer, but it reeks of confusing environmental issues with political preferences.

I know, I know, its serious!

yep - if you charge for the resource people might actually practice being economical/efficient with it.

I think water meters are a good idea. BUT I would expect to see my rates reduced as a result since that inpart covers water charges and supply. Can't see that happening from the council.

(A weak link in this arguement is petrol...)

40 votes in it and 1,000 special votes to be checked. Could well lose the job and good! Some of the muffs she has made.....

"Mark Paxton"

"How long have you been supporting the All Whites?"

"Oh since about 9:15 this morning" (Or pretty close to it)

No more Banks for a while, thank God for that!

Agree. (@Junior82)

I think the lack of support basically represents of lack of trust - over absence of an offset reduction in rates OR that it is just a trojan horse to privatisation (which is a whole different issue, although because of the strong alignment of the left and environmental lobby tends to get wrapped up in one).

Your petrol comment raises the proposition that water is such a basic element that it shouldn't be there for the rich to waste and the poor to be denied. Fair enough (although on the rates offset basis, everyone would get a fair splash).

OK, back to the merits of 3-5-2 v 4-3-3 v 4-4-2 Turfmoore2010-10-10 18:53:39

More xenophobic than racist, I'd have said.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Xenophobia - Fear or hatred of foreigners
Racism - belief that genetic factors such as skin colour etc produce superiority in a particular race.

The two aren't mutually exclusive!

Also, Auckland Super City FC. Has a nice ring to it.

Three for me, and two for them.

I am disappointed our civic leaders did not want to amalgamate. We would have been called a Megalopolis.
