Good thing the A-League final isn't in Wellington this weekend!
I got wet crossing the road. This would NEVER happen in Napier!!!
Grrrrrr

I got to leave work early even though my journey at home wasn't affected at all
People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
Left work (Grey St) at 1:15... arrived home (Waiwhetu) at 4:30.
Had to go via SH1, Warspite Ave, SH58... the best thing for me was my ten year old Alfa Romeo didn't break anything in over three hours of running lol.
I left work (Hospital) at ~12:30, wife (Hall st) left at the same time both heading to train station, she was heading to Jville to get our daughter (and Nieces), I was heading to home in Tawa. She got on a bus, and then I got to the station and I heard an announcement along the lines of "That is the last bus out of here and we are closing the station, it is going to Johnsonville" I decided I wanted to get somewhere and at least my wife might be able to pick me up in the car and we could get home together so I also got on that bus (Wife was on it YAY!), it didn't leave town til ~1:30, and went the back way over Wadestown (was clear at this stage), got to Jville ~2pm, got daughter from daycare, nieces from school (Khandallah) and headed home to Tawa.
My sister & Bro-in Law on the other hand one was in Petone (Work), other was training staff in Wanganui, with their kids at school in Khandallah, and roads closed in front of both of them we had to get the kids. Took Sister 90mins from Fishermans table to Pukerua bay, but then only about 30 mins from there to Tawa as nearly no traffic between Paremata & Pukerua Bay. Bro-in-Law took 2hrs to get from Petone to Jville.
Just insanity across the region, some epic flooding at places near our house Linden & Kenepuru stations both under water (at Kenepuru it was level with the platform), Collins Ave had flooding from the creek as it burst it's banks.
Wasn't too badly affected as I live in Johnsonville. Got a bit wet walking to train yesterday morning and bus took about twice as long to get home but no flooding or anything where we are. Most annoyingly for me is I have a hospital appointment this morning at Kenepuru and don't know whether the hospital is accessible yet so going to have to try and call them this morning.
Soaked to the skin riding home yesterday but this is fairly normal. Even in with wet-weather gear. It's normal, I really worry about you lot that think this is an issue.
Here's some advice:

embrace it.
"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...
I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...
Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."
Took me an hour to get from the Terrace Tunnel to the bottom of the Gorge yesterday at 2.30pm. Usually that takes 3 minutes.
I got the last Hutt bus out of the station. Of the two ahead of us, one turned around at JVille and went back to town, some people on it walked to Petone. The other one went SH2.
My bus went over Haywards (ridiculous amounts of water around Pauatahanui and Judgeford) and had stopped at Waterloo, Woburn, Ava and Petone when the bus on SH2 just made it to Petone. Then had to fight all the SH2 traffic pushed into Petone to get from Petone station to HVHS to fetch junior Siggy and some mates. Left work about 12:35, got home 3:50. Yay!
I decided to leave work early as thought roads might close and a slip might haven't on SH2 stopping me from getting home. Got through Petone before getting stuck at Dowse Drive, ended up going the wrong way up the on ramp (Police controlling traffic at top) and going through many puddles in the Hutt to get home.
Photos of my adventure
I decided to wait it out and had dinner in town. Left around 8. No dramas on the way home, slight detour through the Hutt from Dowse interchange to Melling.
