Thinking Mrs Munk and I might head over for the AW game on the 20th, then head down to CHCH for some tank driving related activity

That looks awesome (what is happening to me?)

Me and Fort watched an episode of 'Greatest Tank Battles' last night which was fascinating...

You want to join us? I think Mrs Munk is close to booking airfares

:( unfortunately monies not great, going up to Napier and then Fort is doing the 320km about Taupo again in Nov so that's our holiday budget for this year....definitely jealous

Oh is Fort doing the 320km about Taupo again?

I fear the 320.

Yes I probably will but it's not something you just say you are going to do, it takes preparation and some major commitment. I am in far worst shape this time around.

It destroys your basic love of cycling for about 10 weeks afterwards as the last thing you want to look at or ride is a bike. It killed the rest of my summer after November as I'm not a major fitness freak and I just wanted to sit around and drink beer. I was not part of a team or group and it is difficult if you don't have that structure.

160km is a piece of cake. anyone who has ridden about 80km in one go can do it.

I think it's harder this time as I've already done it if that makes sense.

The 320km is something else.

Taupo is a little hilly.

The preparation is silly. Long friggin rides up to taihapepe and the foxton straight. Long distance cycling is not pleasant in this neck of the woods.

I watched so many folk fall apart just on the 160km. I've got to stop offering a helping hand when folk are messed up you have to be a bit ruthless which I struggle with.

grr I dunno.

This season I just wanted to grab the Surly and head off and play on those hills past Wanganui. Camp out and do that.

Well do that then.  I am more than happy to be your support crew....

 Ace tanker in the Bathtub.

Everyone camped at the Highway South spawn apart from a push north.  No one went to town including our heavies and we smashed them as they came down the hill from town. I was sure we were screwed.  Best shot was the M7.  Massive lead took nearly all his health and then he caught fire which took the last twenty and he kept going for ages until he stopped he was going so quickly.

Yep 105.  Already in.  Is it wrong that I chose not to finish off tanks with less than 100 hit points to put shots into new targets which would give me more damage?

Think i have four with over 1k experience battles so far.

thats the right thing to do -inflict damage with the 105 -it would be good to pair up with a quick firing Stug or Sc running the 17lber, so they can finish off the damaged tanks - I think im done with T3-4 TD as regards the TD maneuvers, now looking at T5-6.

Also im running rammer, coated optics and GLD on my S35 CA

I have rammer.  Was contemplating vents to improve that load time as well.

Bathtub plat with 17 and 105 could be good giggles.

Matching paint jobs?

I still need a good number on the Lawnmower in tier 3 and Hetzer in 4.  Maybe should think about getting Perry back as well as I doubt 50 people will even run those for manouveurs.

Oh yeah.  Vents issue...

People must die laughing when you, me and Mr. Munk line up in matching desert camo on the SU-85bs.  Of course they stop laughing once we mince a platoon of KV-1s's.

Talking about arty how do people feel it's going? The numbers have dropped and I only really see American and German SPG's with the odd french one. I had a go with my SU-5 and without gold rounds. I t was fairly pointless now down to 12 rounds, I did minimal damage. I'm not sure even getting gold rounds would make a difference.

I actually enjoy seeeing an SPG though as it spices up the game. Still not that fussed about re-investing in an adifferent countires line at present. As my TD and med tank projects are enough.

Good arty is still very, very good.  Some of the clan wars arty was picking out T-50-2s doing half court loops so at a million miles an hour,  but you no longer see a battle with 8 arty of which one is competent and the rest just there to help a couple of Pz1cs get a Pascuchi.

I haven't played it since I failed in the M37 apart from two games in the Bison which reminded me why I don't like arty.  I was okay in the T57 though.

In my defence though, arty kills me a lot lass when I'm hiding behind a bush tearing up a KV-1s so i would be okay with it.

Why do you ask?

It does appear to have more fail than some other servers but it has a lot of goods that transferred in as well.  You probably have to carry more than you do on the other servers (from what I can tell) as your team is likely to collapse around you.

Munk had a pretty good record on NA before transferring to SEA.

If you mean Munk and I getting M60s.  That is thanks to the campaign clan wars format and a gullible clan plus massive alliances that pretty much rigged which teams would finish top.  Also, small server population means more free M60s.

Ah ok. Yeah I was thinking about the M60's. My NA clan is tiny and isn't much worried about clanwars (Top clans there are semi pros anyway which makes winning clan wars difficult.)

Munk and I got signed up as PBKAC started a second string here (PBLAC) and we had decent lower tier records with campaigns on the horizon. Then when PBKAC were one of the key clans in the Eatern Alliance we were dragged in as well.

Most of the top Alliance clans picked up top 5 in stages so the 2nd strings for a number of them got top 30 places as the number one clans had already got M60s. We pretty much only fought padding battles (to get 10 battles each) in the last two phases.  Unlike the top clan guys (read KAC alts) though we'd already done way more than 10 battles in the first two stages.

Yeah he was joking as he followed up by saying you don't need superfast reflexes to play it.

The reason it is so popular is that if you wanna zing around on the keyboard like Stevie Wonder on speed you can. If you are a tad arthitic you just use other strategies.

Uber - I don't play clan wars at the mo so purely Public and if anything tactically the population is getting worse.

For example I've recently played several games on Fjords map and everyone has ignored the A8 route from the east spawn. They've headed west zerged the town, ( I mean everyone except  a couple of idles at the base), only to get bogged down and picked off in the town.

Twice I've held the A8 passage, (once taking out 3 and the other time I ), and then made a run to the enemy cap, pretty much solo.

If you can get a good platoon you can win well. Other times as HN says teams just fall part.  Hell I'm playing after nightshifts at present and I'm still  one of the last to die, with kills under my belt and I can hardly keep my eyes open. That or "drink tanking" which has a similar effect.

Worst time to play weekends and evenings. Best times early hours to lunchtime NZ time. Stoners, students etc, no kids.

There is a lot less whining on the SEA forums compared to NA though so thats one bonus.
